Teams calls with WH-1000XM3

Hi all,

I have an issue with my headphones (WH-1000XM3) when having teams calls probably after the last team update to version 1.5.00.28361 as it was working fine before. The issue is that I cannot use the stereo setting when on call which provides the noise cancellation feature of my headphones. Please note that this feature works fine in all the other applications I am using including youtube, skype etc.

So here are my default settings which won't give me noise cancellation.

If I switch to stereo I only hear my voice. (cannot hear the rest that is in the call)

I've been testing the new work preview/early adopter release that was recently made available and it seemed to be resolved for me there. You might give that a shot and see if it makes a difference for you as well.

    Work Preview Version Info

    Teams version 23104.900.2020.2949

    Client version is 49/23040901300

Additionally, there's a new version on the production channel which I'm having success with. I'm unsure if it relates to my testing of the work preview release or not. If you don't have access to the work preview, it would be a good test as well assuming the rolling production release has reached you.

    Production Version Info

    Teams Version 1.6.00.9379 (64-bit)

@Devdoot S - it looks like you're at least one version behind this one.

I'm on Teams version 1.6.00.6754 (64 bit version) and as soon as my laptop got upgraded to windows 11, I started having this same issues.

    @Microsoft Teams: Kindly assist here.

I've been having the exact same issue with my WH-1000XM3's with same Teams version. No issue with Zoom.

This seems to have fixed it

    • Disconnected headphones from my PC and connected to my phone to enter Sony Headphones App
    • Set Adaptive Sound Control to Off
    • Set Ambient Sound Control to On
    • In Ambient Sound Control, tap Dropdown Menu Button(down arrow) and set the Noise Canceling
    • Disconnect from phone and back to PC

Something wrong with current version of Teams and the use of Adaptive Sound control which worked fine before the Teams update.

I have had this same exact issue! Temporary solution I have found is to go into device settings in TeamsUI and do a custom setup to change headphones from "WH-1000XM3 Hands-Free AG Audio" to "WH1000-XM3 Stereo" and then change the microphone input to the laptop internal mic. Not ideal at all, but makes it not as bad as the headphone mic being constantly active.
