Do other people have this also that Teams get so laggy and unresponsive when you are with many people in the meeting.

What will happen for example is that it takes very long that the bar appear where you can unmute your mic and leave the meeting or open the chat on the right.

Would like to hear if i am the only or its my Surface Pro 3 that is getting to old.

Surface Pro 3 is with 8 GB mem and a Core I7 and 512 gb ssd.

And does the Teams product team about this problem?

Not necessary. It maybe the way how your road is paved. Same car is driving perfectly on millions of other roads.

For instance on my computer Teams consumes 1% CPU when using chat or calendar and 5-6% when in the video call. Memory used 750MB.

Check if you have any third-party antivirus or whitelisting software, things like McAfee, Carbon Black or FireEye are well known bad guys.

Try installing Teams on another, clean PC. Make sure you have latest version (currently it is Version 1.3.00.26064 (64-bit) from October 27, 2020.

Try stopping all third-party agents, especially security agents, and check again. Teams is not a light App, it has tons of features and integrations.

Check that you are not using VPN. VPN and cloud services like Teams are not friends (when traffic goes through on-prem it will be slow for sure).

Report here any findings. It must be something with the paving, as the same car can drive nicely on many other roads. Could be combination too!

Just try the same hardware with clean Windows 10 and Teams installed, and you will see that it will be no any slowness.

If your car cannot drive because there are roadblocks, the problem is not the car - but roadblocks. Remove roadblocks and your car will fly :-).

Let everybody knows if turning "Read Receipts" off actually helps.

If this helps (so at least we know the culprit) this does not mean its a good move, because now you won't be able to let others to see when you read their message, and also you won't see when they read your messages, which makes Teams another Email client where you have no idea what happened to your message and why they not reply.

Can you tell me what hardware you have (i.e. is that descent computer) and also what Anti-Virus/Anti-Everything you have. I can tell you one thing for sure: if you have 45 different security Agents installed on your machine because your Corporate security guys are insane and all they know is how to protect perimeter (i.e. their mindset got stuck in 90s) you are definitely a victim of the Corporate Security who really does not care about your user experience and your productivity. I worked in large company before where Teams was so slow that to join meeting you need to start joining 15 minutes before meeting so hopefully you can join in time.

Another big thing is VPN. Are you on VPN? If yes - HERE YOU GO. Please read about VPN issues, and why it is EVIL for all cloud services including Teams and Microsoft 265 in general. I won't list all the issues here, you can search for Split VPN Tunnel for Teams and you can read yourself.

Hope this can help. Waiting for some news and updates from you!

The slowness is nuts! It's extremely inefficient for trying to communicate with my business associates while working remote. I will just type and nothing appears and then all of a sudden it appears & sends 1/2 of the message while I am still trying to typing it. A co-worker said turning off Read Receipts helps. I am trying that now.
