Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

Exactly the same issue, only on Aftershokz Openrun. (I have a separate microphone)

    Hi,

I had the same problem when using my Aftershokz with the desktop version of Teams. My headphones are also paired with my phone.

The solution I found was to press the 'orange' answer button on the side of the headset twice. This disables the 'mute' function on the headset whilst on the call. The mic icon on the bottom right of the screen changes colour from 'red' to 'white'.

Sadly you need to do this for every call...but at least no irritating bleep!

Thank you. I tried that and it doesn't seem to do anything on my system.

From everything I've read on the internets, and least for my Aeropex headset, it appears the issue is caused that at some point Microsoft started paying attention to when you set Mute on, and signaling the headset that it's been muted, rather than only ignoring sound from it.

So the beeping and voice are apparently being played by my headset.

It appears you are correct, using the web version of Teams there is no beeping.

I had this same problem recently, seemingly triggered by a Teams software update.

However... after reseting the (AfterShokz) headset and enabling multi pairing it seems to have fixed the problem
