Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.

    The downside is this method essentially removes your Aftershokz mic from all telephony, not just Teams "beeping" when muted.

    In Teams you'll notice that it has the same affect as simply selecting the laptop mic array (Teams ==> settings ==> devices ==> deselect the Aftershokz mic) in that the beeping stops... but only because the headset is not in play for use in the Team app.

    this worked for me with my aftershokz, havent found the down side yet

    1. Open Devices and Printers from Hardware and Sound within the Control Panel
    2. Expand the Bluetooth headphone listed under Devices by double clicking it
    3. Switch to the Services tab within the Properties dialog
    4. Turn off Hands-free Telephony and click OK

    For you the best solution is to purchase Shokz USB dongle Loop100 or Loop110 that just got released. It's a bit expensive for a dongle (on top of the indecent price of the headset) but it handles the Bluetooth connection and avoids the beeping. It works fine. Only drawback is that it's seen as a sound device by Windows and thus is permanently active which means Windows will not switch to another sound output when your headset is off. If you ask Shokz nicely and explain your situation they will probably offer you a discount.
