Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.

    I use Sennheiser HD-450BT for over 2 years. Beeping in headset while I'm muted drives me crazy. With the recent Windows update, the work around with enabling headphone microphone through driver control (Settings -> System -> Sound -> Input, Device properties and test microphone -> Additional device properties -> Levels -> icon at the right of Headset) stopped working. Now when I enable it at the driver level, teams do pick it up and enable microphone state change making me non-muted again.

    Any (new) idea how to fix the problem?

    Solution for Sennheiser DW Pro 2 (maybe for others too)

    1. Install EPOS CONNECT
    2. Set "Mute Tone" - OFF

    OR

    1. Install EPOS CONNECT
    2. Update firmware to 181 or newest

    Until now I don‘t have any problems with teams. It looks like it works now well.

    Same problem with Aftershokz does not happen on other tools like zoom or webex etc. but only teams. so i dont think it is a bluetooth issue, it is something Microsoft did on the teams release that causes this problem on the desktop app.
