Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls for optimal communication
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.
Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.
This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

Hi! Was having the same issue and today I checked and there was a firmware update available for my Sennheiser through the iPhone app that says in the description that solves the issue. I will check if the issue is solved by this update but I have high hopes, check for your headphones support for updates.
false alarm. beep is back.
I've just received the Shokz Bluetooth USB dongle called Loop 100 and thought it might interest you guys.
When you use it the PC doesn't see the headset as Bluetooth headset anymore, it sees it as a sound device.
So yes it's avoiding the infamous beeping sound but it has another great advantage:
When you use your bluetooth headset in hands-free profile (both speakers and mike) on Windows it downgrades the sound quality to 8kHz, allegedly due to the limited Bluetooth bandwidth but I never understood why it's not the case on a phone... 8kHz is good enough for voice but try to listen to music or play a game in this mode, it's really awful.
Now with the Loop 100 I can enjoy both the microphone and the stereo quality at the same time, the dream ! I'm almost happy the beeping sound forced me to buy it I would never have thought it would also do this magic trick.
The Loop 100 is at around $60 (quite expensive for a dongle) but if you ask Shokz nicely they may give you a 25% discount (still a bit expensive but ok'ish).
No idea if this dongle is compatible with non Shokz devices though, I doubt it.
Correction, I got lured by the fact that the dongle is able to switch seamlessly super fast between stereo and hands-free profiles but actually in hands-free the audio quality is super degraded like when connecting to the PC's bluetooth. So the only advantage of the dongle is to avoid the beeping sound. It's still convenient but too expensive for a simple bluetooth dongle.
The only workaround that worked for my Aftershokz headset was to disable windows Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service.
it can be disabled from "services" app by changing startup type to Disabled, but that takes effect after restart. For the current session, you need to Stop it.
Alternative is to change windows registry using Registry Editor app: Set following Key to: "0"
UPDATE: I realized that this actually disables the microphone in the headset and Teams switches to a different mic in my laptop instead.
