Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.

    Contact Shokz support and explain the problem. They'll send you a USB receiver for your computer. That will get around the problem.

    I get the same annoying beep constantly when I am muted. Enough that I completely dislike using Teams. I also use Aftershokz Opencomm headset. Any thoughts to stop the annoying beep?

    It's not fixed for me either. It can't be a headset issue, at least in my case (and I suspect most others too). The headset was working fine until a Teams update. Absolutely no changes to the headset and now there's beeping. That was months ago, and it's still there, annoying as ever.

    With My Sennheiser HD-450BT the issue is still present. No work around. Have the same version of Teams as @Fla-06.

    The issue is only present on Windows. Linux version of teams (in flatpak) does not exhibit this problem.

    My latest findings is that these beeps sounds are generated by headphones themselves. Going to chase Sennheiser support for resolution.
