Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

Microsoft --stop with the excuses BEEP BEEP and TURN OFF THIS BEEP BEEP FEATURE!

Thousands of BEEP BEEP people over YEARS have told you to stop this feature. I use a competitor BEEP BEEP (whenvever the choice is mine). PROBLEM SOLVED!

However, here are times that I do BEEP BEEP not have a choice. I have to use TEAMS--and I need to mute myself....so I hear BEEP BEEP.

If you find this post annoying to read---imagine that in your ear.

    Hi Guys

I had exactly the same problem with the Aftershokz headset and agree that the browser option appears to resolve.

I would also added that I have found pressing both the '+' & '-' volume buttons on the headset at the same time results in the headset unmuting and the beeps disappearing but leaves the Teams meeting still muted.

It appears a recent change somewhere is sending a command to the headset to mute as well as the session on teams.

This may be good in some situations but not in this one.

If there is an option to change this, please let me know, if not could it be possible in future releases to have the option to select if a command to mute is sent to the headset or not?

    Bob

Microsoft has made it pretty clear that they want everyone to buy they're official "teams certified" headsets. It's the default answer to any question about headset problems, and it allows them to skate on any outstanding problems or problems created with an update. The irony is that even their official headsets don't always work the way they should.

I did a reset & re-paired the headset to my computer, but unfortunately the "mute on" announcement & double beep is still there. Aftershokz is sending me a dongle to resolve the issue. Until then I am using a Teams certified speakerphone for call where muting is necessary (no beeping) and my Aftershokz headset for call where I am actively speaking. Definitely not efficient.
