Bluetooth Headset not working with teams.

I have a pair of Bluetooth Skullcandy Hesh 3 Headphones, and they have 2 connections with my laptop.

1)Hesh 3 Stereo

2)Hesh 3 Hands-Free AG Audio

When I use Hands free AG Audio, there is some static disturbance. When watching videos, stereo option gives great sound quality but for some reason it doesn't give any sound during a meeting in teams. In device settings during a meeting, once I choose Hesh 3 Stereo, the voice just stops.

    1. In a Teams Call, go to Device Settings.
    2. As the Speaker, select the Stereo Option. (of your headphones)
    3. As the mic, choose anything EXCEPT the headset microphone.

Basically, this works for almost everyone. The thing about Bluetooth headphones is that if you want to use its microphone, you have to sacrifice on the audio quality (Hands-Free Audio) but if you don't want to use the mic, you can have high quality audio (Stereo).

If you're planning on never using the Headset Microphone, you can disable it from the sound settings.

You can try selecting Stereo headphones as speakers (Output) and the builtin microphone as input in the device settings while joining the meeting.

I had the same issue and fixed it.

However, before going forward be aware that I think this is a limitation of how Bluetooth audio works on Windows. My understanding is that the "headset" option provides lower audio quality to free up bandwidth for the microphone data. The "stereo" option uses higher quality audio, but as a result the microphone can't be used. If you want to use the stereo option, you need a microphone separate from your headset. Again, this is just my limited understanding of how it works.

Teams seems to handle the switchover between the two... inelegantly. If you want to force Teams to use the stereo option and a separate microphone, this worked for me:

    1. With your headset connected, hit the start menu, type "control panel" and open it.
    2. Click sound
    3. Under the playback tab, find the stereo version of your headset. If it's disabled, right click, enable. Right click it, and select "set as default communications device". Do this again for "set as default device".
    4. Find the "headset" version of your device, and right click -> disable.
    5. Go to the recording tab, and find the microphone you want to use. Right click it, make sure it's enabled, and select "set as default communications device". Do this again for "set as default device".
    6. Under the same tab, disable the headset.

If you do all of these things, the headset shouldn't show up in Teams and audio should be successfully sent to the stereo version of the headphones. I found that if I didn't set the default devices correctly, it would still be trying to read the microphone data from the headset even when I had selected an external microphone in Teams. This then disabled the stereo option - resulting in no sound.

MS>>> All of this is TOO STUPID to contemplate... It should just WORK!

I tried this and had no change.

My issue may be a little different as people in the meeting can hear me (the mic on my headset is working) but I cant hear anything from Teams, except the ring of a call coming in but as soon as I answer, I have no sound.

LEIGONS OF MEDIOCRACY... MICROSOFT IS YOUR PATRON SAINT!!!

Every time you change something nothing works. Doesn't MS READ these complaints?

MS Teams cannot connect with most bluetooth headsets.

I have Bluetooth Hearing Aids... THEY won’t connect.

I’m switching to Apple and you folks can go pound sand,,,

Static & distortion using BT headphones through android phone ("call me").

I'm sorry if this is already answered (it is not with my BT connected to the PC, rather when Teams "calls me".

This is occurring only with teams. I contacted the manufacturer to replace it, but in good conscience I could not say it was happening on any other app or during phone calls (or listening to music).****They work with absolutely everything else. They work with Zoom, Webex, etc. They work connected with my phone, my cars, directly to the office PC, my home desktop and my home laptop.

    Any thoughts?
