team mysterious ringing

the last week or so I get a random (i don't see a reason/activity for it when it happens) ringing in my headset...like a phone call ringtone, but there is no activity  on Teams.  No one is calling me or messaging me, there is not an upcoming meeting scheduled.

My IT support team thought it was something wrong/setting on my Jabra Evolve headset,   but I tried turning off a ringtone setting in the headset's settings, but yet, I still get this same mystery ringing still

any ideas what could be causing this ?

So a few times during the past year or two I've been upstairs away from my computer and heard the Teams ringer. Got back and NOTHING.

Just now it happened right in front of me and I know what did it. I use bluetooth enabled hearing aids that use an intermediary device called a ConnectClip to bridge from the computer via bluetooth to my hearing aids via their proprietary wireless protocol. The ConnectClip also acts as a microphone.

Today I turned off my ConnectClip and the second it turned off the Teams ring tone started playing out of my speakers! It's extremely probable that in the past when I heard it from upstairs it was because I had left the range of my ConnectClip so it disconnected from the computer!

A week ago I was at work helping someone with a Jabra headset and as soon as she disconnected it from her computer Teams started ringing through the speakers and I had to quit teams and start it again.

I haven't read any of the 64 replies to your thread so I'm off to find out if this is new or redundant info LOL

I have the same mystery ringing with either bluetooth speakers or with the PC built in speakers. It is so terrible.

Same happens with me when I tap the 'Play/Pause' button on my Bluetooth headset.

I did discover something that stops the eternal ringing when I'm making a call -- my computer has several microphone input, including the sound card mic-in, my Bose 700 UC headset and the Logitech webcam mic in. I had ignored the webcam microphone as I wasn't using it and focused on making changes to the Bose headset. After disabling the webcam microphone, I can now make a call! Finally! It has been months.

Last night I called my daughter using Teams personal on Windows 11. Everything worked ok, but after hanging up I noticed my speakers were ringing...eternally. I had to exit and restart both Teams to get it to stop. But at least it wasn't on the call constantly ringing in my ear on the call. Small progress.
