Window 11 taskbar auto-hide turning off

I switched to Windows 11 a few weeks ago, and ever since then, the taskbar auto-hide quits working when the computer comes out of Sleep mode. I have to be away from the computer for a while before it will happen, and I believe it has something to do with me running dual monitors. When I wake my computer, my secondary monitor appears to come up faster than my primary by just a fraction. Once my primary is on, there is a message saying something about the taskbar already being hidden (I think) and the taskbar on my primary monitor has the taskbar up. When I go to Taskbar Behaviors, 'Automatically hide the taskbar' is no longer checked. I'll select it again, and it will work fine until the system goes back into Sleep mode for a while, again.

    This problem has been around for years, with many previous versions of windows. I do not remember a version that did not have this problem.

    Never really worked out what turns the Auto Hide option off, do not think its going to sleep or a restart.

    I work all the time on a laptop and rerly reboot, just close the screen to put it into standby. I do have 3 x 28" monitors plugged in during the daytime (at my desk) and just use the built in monotor in the evening ( on my lap).

    All seems pretty random when the Auto Hide option turns off.

    one year later and still no fix.

    MSFT, it's super annoying that every day i have to enable Auto Hide Taskbar because Win11 cannot retain and hold this silly setting. Please fix this.

    I had the same issue.

    SOLUTION for me was uncheck "Show badges (unread messages counter) on taskbar apps" which appears directly below "Automatically hide the taskbar" in preferences.

    You can check that this has worked for you by restarting Windows Explorer in Task Manager.

    This solution doesn't work for me. I have always had "Show badges on taskbar apps" turned off and still get the issue.

    I posted about this quite some time ago and patiently waited for Microsoft to fix the problem.

    Recently, my PC (an Intel NUC i7 Gen11) started crashing whenever I used my Vegas Pro 19 video editing software. After many attempts to fix this by reinstalling various versions of Vegas, I decided to do a clean install of Windows 11 (not an upgrade or repair).

    The fresh install of Windows 11 fixed my issue running Vegas 19.

    It also fixed my Task Bar which now auto hides correctly.

    I suspect the issue is some form of OS corruption caused by a misbehaving update or possibly a serious BSOD.
