Scanner won't run on Windows 11

A recent Windows 11 update completely fixed the Epson scanner problems that appeared with an update many months ago. Thank you Microsoft for finally fixing this!

You got a reply from jwbassgarl. I believe I went through all those steps and it might have been the procedure that ended up working for me. It's been so long I really don't recall how I finally got mine ( V600 Photo)working normally. Then again, could be that what works for one model scanner won't work for another

Try this, from one of my previous posts, it worked for me.

The following is a fix for Epson Scan software not being recognized in Windows 11. This is working for me.

Below steps derived from “The Geek Page”, dated January 28, 2022 By Saurav Dey.

Step#1: In the search box, type Run and select it from the search results.

Step#2: In the Run dialog box, type services.msc and click OK.

Step#3: The Services window will open. Scroll down and locate Windows Image Acquisition or WIA.

Step#4: Make a right-click on the WIA and select Properties from the drop menu.

Step#5: In the WIA panel, click on the Log On tab.

Step#6: Under the Log On tab, select the Local System Account option. Check the box beside Allow Service to Interact with Desktop and clickApply to proceed.

Step#7, restart the Service then restart the computer. Epson Scan should now work.

Additional note: When Epson Scan starts if the “Preview” & “Scan” buttons are not visible then click once anywhere in the left hand panel & then press the keyboard “Alt” key. The buttons should now appear. (this part is from Epson support).

I can't get my Epson ES-400 document scanner to work either. Microsoft blames Epson and Epson blames Microsoft. If I had known this was such a problem that neither professional places could fix, I wouldn't have upgraded to Windows 11 at all. Both places say it would work, both lied and neither are concerned enough to fix it. Both places say they listen to their consumers and give support to fix issues, but neither can fix something that was working. I created an old computer and put my old Windows 10 on it just to use my document scanner. Every time that I see any posts about Epson and Windows together I will post this information.
Oh yeah, before I get a post back about any of the following, no need.

 Updating or downloading drivers from Epson, done that. 

 Shell Hardware setting to Automatic, done that.    
 Windows Image Acquisition to automatic, done that.  
 Run troubleshooter, done that.

 Reboot, done that.

I have already done all of these, multiple times.

It shows up in device manager as working fine, it shows up in the list for the scanners available with the Windows Scan app, but will not work. It detects it when I unplug it from a usb drive and put it on a usb drive. Very frustrating.
