Thanks to other posts (which are now locked), I found that, once again, Cortana was the issue.
I was experiencing the freeze-ups using the same (wireless) mice only on Windows 11.

As soon as I disabled Cortana, the problem instantly went away.

    Side notes:

    • Interestingly, the freeze ups did not occur when I used something other than my main mousepad
      (e.g., a box).
    • Wired mice worked perfectly (as did the wireless mice on Windows 10).
    • While many of the other "suggested fixes" may have some value for very unique situations,

it seems the majority of us are simply being affected by Cortana.

If MS is going to lock these posts, why can't they point to a similar post that is still open for reply!!?

Thanks for your response. I am running an SSD as drive C and a spindle for D.

That said when I took my mouse apart I found a substanial amount of debris in and around the left button switch. I used some compressed air and alcohol to clean it. It has been fine for a couple of weeks now.

Yes, it is very important to clean your mouse to keep it healthy and happy. In fact, here is an actual memo in IBM for properly attending to your mouse.

Abstract: Mouse Balls Available as FRU (Field Replacement Unit)

Mouse balls are now available as FRU's. Therefore, if a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel.

Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacture of the mouse. Foreign ball can be replaced using the pop-off method. Domestic balls are replaced using the twist-off method. Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge. Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately.

It is recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction, and that any customer missing his balls should suspect local personnel of removing these necessary items.

To re-order, specify one of the following:

    • Domestic Balls - p/n 33f8462
    • Foreign Balls - p/n 33f4861

Apparently this was written as a serious memo....I just find it fun to read! LOL

Agreed that apps should not be coded where the UI is blocked, however, the OS is supposed to isolate that to the application not system wide. This particular issue (for me anyway) seems to be across applications, which would indicate that the problem is closer to driver, OS or hardware level than application level. These types cross application isolation and would affect the entire system.

Below is an example of Users trying to get help from a Microsoft Agent.

The point here is that the date of this request is over 4 YEARS OLD... May 22, 2017!

We are still dealing with this issue.

No he did not seem sure we unistalled the mouse restarted then did that clean boot and restarted another tech said the mouse was faulty but a brand new one did it aswell

We did get a video freeze before when watching a video on YouTube but that's not happend since and I think the mouse still moved when that happend.

Yesterday they reinstalled my graphics driver as nvidia control panel was not showing after they installed the driver the control panel came on under more options

Can be sure if the whole pc lags/stutters or if uts just the mouse tho as when it's happened so far not had any videos or games playing at the time
