Since last Windows Update "task host window is stopping background tasks windows 10" on 4 machines
Since last Windows 10 automatic update done on 8 PCs (KB5016616, KB5012170 & KB890830) 4 PCs are now showing "task host window is stopping background tasks" on shutdown.
Does anyone know what caused this?
Thanks

2022-08-26T06:28:26+00:00 Quite - so even a wipe, reinstall and update would pick up the same error if done now.
Easy enough to live with it for the time being. Just another instance of testing the product on the paying customer.
Many thanks.

2022-08-25T17:20:20+00:00 unfortunately the troubleshooter for me did not yield any results, issue persists. I've opted to just let the computer sleep instead. Not a good workaround really. Microsoft probably will never address this and it will get resolved in another quarterly windows update just because the code itself changes.

2022-08-25T17:06:31+00:00 Hello altogether,
I'm from Germany but I may be able to offer a solution that worked for me on 2 Windows 10 computers.
Excuse me, if my workthrough doesn't exactly tanslate to your machines. My Windows 10 is a German version. ;-)
Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Troubleshooting -> Additional Troubleshooting. There go for the "Windows Update". Execute Troubleshooting there. You'll see it recognizes the problem and restarts the BITS service,
After that was done, I could shut down both PC without any problems.
I believe, I didn't even care to reboot first.
