Windows activation after bios update

After updating the bios, im unable to activate windows 11, which was already activated. You're telling me I can't update the bios without windows freaking out. I paid for this product and now the only thing the troubleshooter is telling me to do is to just buy another product key. How the hell do I go about fixing this since windows services is just an utter joke? I'm constantly having to deal with fixing **** issues with windows 11. This product is a big joke. The "get help" app does nothing but direct me to exactly what their windows activation page is on the website.

Contacting support did nothing. They told me it's not their issue. Quality service M$

"Are you able to see your pc in your Microsoft account? What about the devices list during the activation troubleshooter?"

    • Yes I can see both my devices one HP Victus laptop with Win 11 Home and my DIY DESKTOP for what I purchased RETAIL license of Win 11pro after the OM license was crushed after motherboard BIOS update.

Same as in your case the troubleshooter for some reason doesn’t see the DESKTOP and sees only the Laptop that’s messed up on MS licensing system or whatever is responsible for that.

Another similarity like in your case I also removed the DESKTOP from my account before installing fresh WIN 11 that was a standard procedure and I never had any issue in fact it was a procedure you should follow not to accumulate to many devices under your account.

I had old Win 8 & 10 retail license at least 4 of them that I purchased but I actually throw all them away ,CD’s, covers and everything after some major cleaning never came to my mind I will have any use for them ever again.

I was able to fish out an MS customer support number in my region just to be greeted with "This number is not in use " and the number came from legitimate MS Support page.
I assume they completely dropped the calls option and relay only on open tickets and then they call you or not like in our cases.
Very frustrating and painful and now I feel at a loss due to a license I paid and can’t use .

The same day the issue appeared this time after Window clean installation and BIOS update with the same BIOS due to some issues I encountered wit USB and after all I was able to trouble shoot I did the BIOS re-flash with the exact same version, came back to Windows and the problem still was there no USB device could be recognized all USB devices started to get errors. After that I made a full new WINDOWS installation by clearing the M.2SSD from the BIOS. Windows got installed, I entered my account and credentials, and then the horror started, Windows could not be registered due to an error, change hardware doesn’t work, all tricks with CMD ADMIN mod didn’t work, no phone local provided, just open a ticket leave your phone and “we will call you” however no one called me till now.

I also bought retail version of MS Win 11 pro over MS STORE, never received any key and what I understand it is not needed until sh*t like this happens am latterly pissed off and would gladly put my hands around a neck of someone in MS who is responsible for this. At this point  I would like my money to be refunded .

Worse of all the issue with USB was solved by Win 11 reinstallation and happens to appear after the last Win 11 Update KB xxxxx303 but lost the licence in process AGAIN!

how many days did you wait before to open a new ticket? What country are you asking support from? I think bad publicity through social media

will work better than a lawsuit; I hate to do it, but it is what it is.

Going to open my second ticket, same way I will do every friday from now on until I receive some sort

of answer from microsoft. As I already said, this is utterly disappointing.

Is there any english locale microsoft support that have live chat as an option?

To add some information on my specific situation: the key I recovered from the registry is just a temporary key

This means I cant try the fix suggested here, to re-enter the key in the activatin troubleshooter is not an option

    for me.

This is due to the fact I bought my license from microsoft store, and it bounded with my microsoft account. I didn't

receve any license key at all

@tanker59 Thank you buddy, it worked great, but I had to used the original key I had after wiping it. Worked fine after re entering my original key after the rearm.

Worked for Gigabyte Z690 AORUS PRO on BIOS F23 . Re-installed the key I used on Windows 11 pro.

Bios update on a Gigabyte Z790 borked Windows 11 Pro activation. Finally, I just re-entered the digital key that I bought earlier this year and it took. This is the first time in my nearly 30 years building PCs that a mere bios update nuked Windows activation.
