Xbox App and Microsoft Store prevents game downloands by requiring Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package to download first, but Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package will not download

Every time that I go to download a game from the xbox app or microsoft store that is over 1GB, the xbox app/microsoft store first tries to download Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package first. The issue is that the microsoft store page for Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package appears to be bugged, and I cannot download it. I have tried canceling the downloads and downloading just the package by itself and it does not work. I cannot find the page online to download it manually either. How do I download Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package manually, or how do I work around needing it to download larger games. This is a new issue, it was not a problem a month ago.

    i got mine to work! i was in the xbox insiders program for the Xbox App so i had to unsubscribe to that. i did it through the Xbox app. then i uninstalled the Xbox App using the windows settings. reset pc, then installed xbox app via the windows store. then i got loaded it up and got the gaming services error. closed xbox app, then uninstalled/ reinstalled gaming services as admin using powershell. then it worked.

    According to the Xbox Insiders page on reddit ( windowsgaming - xboxinsiders (reddit.com)):

    If you want to roll back to the stable version of the Xbox App then you will need to leave the preview.

    1. Ensure that you signing in to the Xbox App, the Windows Store and the Xbox Insider Hub with the same account.
    2. Load the Xbox Insider Hub, find the Windows Gaming preview in your 'Joined' list. Click Manage. Scroll down and click Leave Preview
    3. Ensure that you are properly removed from the preview. Windows Gaming should now be listed in the available list
    4. Remove the Xbox App using Windows Settings > Apps (find Xbox App and uninstall)
    5. Remove Gaming Services. In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter: get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    6. Reboot PC
    7. Load the Windows Store, find the Xbox App and install.

    When you are not part of the Windows Gaming preview, the Windows Store will deliver the stable public build of the Xbox App. It will only deliver the preview version if your account is part of the preview group.

    It's a bit of a process to do so, it won't automatically revert. Hope that helps :)

    • repeating the powershell Add-AppxPackage commands there without admin was something i never did in the tries before
    • i also opted out of the xbox insider programm as well

    after including these 2 steps in the process i got it working again now. And Forza 5 Downloads the patch.

    Either way, clean installing the OS should solve this as long as you don't reinstall or do whatever that messed it up in the first place

    AHAHAHA...is this a solution for you. I work in a big IT company and what you just write is a NON SENSE . I add something in italian..use google translator.

    Non è possibile che nel 2022 per risolvere un problema ad una app che oggettivamente ha tantissimi problemi , questo è solo l'ultimo oltre che essere completamente bloccante, qualcuno suggerisca di formattare il pc come si suggeriva 10 o 20 anni fa. Questo è inaccettabile e molto offensivo. Chi non ha nessuna competenza informatica smetta di scrivere stupidaggini. Inoltre che Microsoft si faccia carico di questo problema altrimenti noi , sicuramente io, non sborserò mai piu un centesimo. Vorrei sottolineare come su piattaforme come STEAM o EPIC queste cose non sono mai successe. E questo è un fatto oggettivo.
