Windows update 10/12/2022 broke my PC totally!

I noticed last night before I went to bed that I had the option to update and restart my PC which meant there was something in Windows that needed an update. Ok...sure. I selected that option, watched the system prepare and download the update, and went to bed.

This morning I go into my office and my PC won't even boot! I initially get to the Windows loading screen....nothing but the spinning dots for 30 minutes. So I hold the power button down, let it reset...same result. I reboot again, try to go into Safe Mode....nothing at all. Black screen. So I thought "Great! I have to reinstall Windows and restore my last system image (which was this Sunday thankfully)." So I get out my Windows USB install stick, set my PC to start from there, get the prompt to install 32 or 64 bit Windows, select 64 bit, get the loading install files message...

Nothing! Doesn't load at all!

I've tried to get into Safe Mode, took out all my RAM and reseated them, only installed 1 stick at a time (out of four I had installed), unplugged and reseated the PSU cables to EVERYTHING...not one single thing is working! I use my computer for work, and right now all I have is a $3500 paperweight! I've now spent HOURS in Google University trying to find the magic bullet that will fix this, and nothing is working!

    Same. It's so frustrating. This is not acceptable and is not a coincidence hardware issue. I had 2 computers do the same thing. Stop trying to make everyone move to windows 11. The last few years have been nothing but trouble and $$$$ because of stuff like this.

    This has happened to too many people to be a coincidence. My computer was working fine then a dud immediately after the update failed instillation.

    I tried for a couple more days but reloaded windows as i expected I would have to. I did notice something this time though. As this was not my first rodeo, I cloned my boot drive and booted on it prior to soiling the update. The update failed of course (as described here by many) BUT --- shutting down and swapping in the cloned boot drive produced the same failure conditions as before. SO --- it would seem that the drives are NOT getting corrupted, rather something is being written somewhere on the motherboard !?

    Yea, last month windows update wrecked my system.

    that was oct.....

    in nov, on the 17th, another update that should have never been downloaded, (i had updates paused cause of last months fiasco),

    caused another 2 days of nothing but headaches, eventually ended up restoring to earlier point......

    how updates get forced thru pause option?,....

    why does last 2 major updates cause so much trouble within O.S.,

    and why do my restore points keep disappearing?,

    and, how, (who?) does my registry and group policy template keep getting changed?

    1 day im in control, next day my **** is being managed by my organization, i fix it, restore point, upload to cloud, next day all gone.

    so here is my solution since it appears that the great windows god in the Ether doest care much for what i want or enjoy

    it would or needs to practice thru whatever means its demagoguery upon my humble estate.

    i see something becoming clearer, just up ahead a little, there!, right there it is!, a simple, elegant, solution called,....LINUX!

    lol......pops distro, ubuntu, lime, and on and on.

    oh yeah, then there is steam OS.......

    do you have a restore point??

    Thankfully I have an imaging program that runs every Sunday, so I have everything on my drive backed up except a few documents that can be easily recovered by email.

    I just have to be able to get to it now since I keep it on a separate drive.
