Intel Core i7-6700HQ Not Getting The Windows 11 Update?

it's NOT about cores, or speed, or performance or anything like that.

it's all about an internal issue with the processor architecture for pre 8th gen...

In 2018 CPUs were affected by a serious design flaws that enabled the Spectre and Meltdown side-channel attacks. Microsoft had to release patches for Windows that slowed down PCs with older CPUs. This let Windows work around the security problems in these CPUs.

CPU manufacturers would have to rearchitect their older CPU designs to truly patch these security weaknesses. (and you know they won't)

Intel stated that Spectre and Meltdown were addressed with hardware level changes starting with Intel 8th-generation CPUs.

Isn’t it interesting that Windows 11 requires 8th-generation CPUs or newer? I would guess this is totally related. Of course, Microsoft isn’t screaming from the rooftops that PCs with older CPUs are fundamentally insecure at a hardware level compared to new devices. That wouldn’t be good for business. But it seems like Microsoft wants to quietly move everyone to new hardware so Microsoft knows it only has to support Windows 11 on CPUs with these security fixes.

I would like to see that test, I am using Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz and this processor does very well in Bench Mark tests, including supporting VM's in the background. because if that is the case some of the newer computers being produced with smaller processors are able to support Windows 11 explain that one.

Devices that do meet the minimum system requirements had a 99,8% crash free experience, so the crash experience is 0.2%. If devices that do not meet the minimum system requirements had 52% more kernel mode crashes, so it crash 0.304% :) Strange info... Or so why intel core i7-6700HQ doesn't meet minimum system requirement?

I keep getting this message. The laptop shuts down, begins installing updated OS, and then never completes the install. It just remains hung up indefinitely. I have to manually power down twice and then changes are uninstalled, until this cycle begins all over again a few days later. Here is the most recent message from a few mins ago:

How can this be resolved??

Your CPU isn't supported and capable to run Windows 11.

Microsoft had tested all the CPUs and probably, they didn't got good results from your one.

Even though your CPU is powerful, it may not have the features and performance that Windows 11 needs.

The compatible CPU list will not be updated. But you can log your thoughts as a suggestion in the Feedback hub. Microsoft may change it's decision. Less chances though.

One more thing I'd like to tell with this, you can still upgrade to Windows 11. But:

• You may face a performance decrease.
• You may not get updates
