Windows 10 20H2 feature update causes lags, freezes, slow performance

I have same thing here.

Here is my two cents on this matter.  All of this is IMHO and not based on any cause and effect.

I have been dealing with a system slowdown for weeks hoping an update will put it back the way it was in Jan.

My metric is using the Mouse panel in Settings. It can take 3-10s for me to make a change in the cursor speed. Sometimes while sweeping across the screen the mouse cursor will stutter or halt for a part of a second and then jump a short bit. I guess to catch up. Note that the  old fashioned Sound control panel does NOT have that slowness problem. It works great. Clearly they don't make software like that anymore.

I have done a cleanboot, and that stopped a small amount of the lag but it is still there. I can't see anything in Task Manager that is doing large amounts of CPU work. I see this lag when Task manager says the CPU is 3% busy. I say Windows is wasting some time in a way that is observable but not detectable by the CPU use. I am not doing any of the DISM or Upgrade junk. It has taken many hours of my time doing that six times in the last two years and NEVER helped.

I am waiting as this will just go away or morph into a better or worse symptom after one or a dozen updates.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

Here's the steps you can try.

-Click Start, type CMD and run it as administrator

-Copy and paste the command below and hit enter.

Sfc /scannow

Wait until the pc finishes scanning and repairing any corrupted system files then proceed with the next command

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Once done restart your pc using Cleanboot.

This process will eliminate 3rd party application running in the background of your computer along with services that are not needed to run windows. If there's any conflicting 3rd party application that causes the issue on your computer, this process will stop it.

1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows Key + R and type msconfig
2. System Configuration Utility box will open and by default you are on general tab.
3. On the General tab, click the selective startup and make sure that load system service and load startup items both have checked mark.
4. Click on services tab
5. Put a check mark on Hide All Microsoft Services
6. Once Hide all Microsoft Services have checked mark on it, click on Disable All
7. Click on the Startup Tab and click open task manager. This will open another window which contains all your startup applications on the administrator account.
8. Disable all application that you're not using. You can simply just click on them and select disable.
9. Click OK, Apply and close the configuration utility
10. Restart your pc and check.

If the issue persist perform Repair Upgrade , this will re-install the Windows without affecting your files and apps, it will repair and replace any corrupted system files.

Step 1: Download Media Creation Tool from Microsoft.

Step 2: Run MediaCreationTool.exe.

Step 3: Choose "Upgrade this PC now".

Step 4: Select "Keep personal files and apps".

Step 5: Let it install

Same here. Installed the update last night, no problem before then. Afterwards, every time I switch a window it lags for a half-second. I've uninstall and reinstalled every driver I could think of including graphics, network and pointer devices.

Thanks so much for your advice. But do you think the problem is to do with 3rd party apps? I haven't installed anything new, this has just started after I did the Windows Update...
