WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Exactly. This is why I mentioned a few "other" programs that take up resources. A majority of the time the Task Manager shows "system", so Microsoft basically does not want you to know how much they are in control of your computer. The constant switching my setup to use Microsoft Edge and Photo Viewer is an example. I have to assign file extensions to a specific program on a regular basis. My sound settings in several programs are switched to "default". It is "I" that decides what is on my computer !

    It is very precisely and literally a "Home Invasion", breaking and entering, a vicious, malicious attack upon my privacy and my computer. Microsoft's access to my computer is the very thing that makes it vulnerable to attack by hackers. If MicroStupid had not designed the non-operating system (Windows) in this way, there would be less attacks on our computers. A house without doors and windows is a lot harder to break into than one with so many doors and windows. Do we really know what MicroStupid is doing on OUR computers?

    The list of programs without proper documentation is endless. WaasMedic is just one. It showed up listed14 times in Task Manager in one moment in time. compattelrunner is another. I was able to find a program to uninstall some things, like Edge. But, for the rest, who knows if it is actually part of Windows or not?

    Well...  Same problem ...  100% disk usage ... being a retired IBM'er I did some digging.   Yes, Waasmedic Agent was running solid.  Checked in settings and clicked on stop udates for 7 days, reboot, and no waasmedic running.  So far so good.   Saw references to update failing on the removal of Adobe flash, and sometimes failing.  Check my machine, no flash installed.  BUT  I did have ADOBE Reader ...  So,  what the heck, it is Adobe --- SO I uninstalled Adobe Reader and bingo, when I did a restart no waasmedic agent ! ! !  ..

    At this point I actually checked in settings for "view update history" which is two down from the pause update button.   Should have checked it before but regretfully didn't.  You should.  
    Under "other updates" I found an entry for removal of Adobe Flash -- and it gave a removal completion date of today May 17, 2021 ! ! !   My assumption is that MS was somehow getting hung up on the removal due to something in Adobe Acrobat reader that was possibly also in Adobe Flash and the MS code couldn't handle it.  

    So...  check your PC.  What is under 'other updates' as uninstalled ?   If it the Flash player try uninstalling Adobe Reader if you have it, and/or other Adobe products.   

    I haven't tried reinstalling Adobe Reader as yet so don't know if the problem comes back if you do.

    Can't just be the drive, unfortunately. Waas Medic is bugging me on my laptop with no drives connected and only a C: drive on board.

    MS really needs to learn to schedule this crappola for times when we don't actually need our computers. Every second day there's some MS process hijacking my machine.
