I believe the vast number of views and posts combined with the crickets at MS's end indicate that as far as Microsloth is concerned, this is not an issue or problem.  It is simply MS forcing its way around legal and users attempts to protect user privacy.  MS's ultimate goal, I believe, is to be able to have a real-time, full picture of your computer and you using it so they can make money by marketing to you, selling data mined about you to their corporate clients, and make products you use that compete with MS products, harder to use / incompatible with Windows in order to "convert" you to the MS product.

EXAMPLE:  Microsloth Edge.  Once before MS tried to force Windows users to use the MS browser (Internet Explorer) instead of its cheif rival, Netscape.  They did this by making IE an integral part of the OS that users could not uninstall, and at OS installation / update, resetting IE as the default for a slew of FileTypes normally assigned to third party applications.  The EU filed suit and won with the opinion stating that IE was an APPLICATION and NOT and INTEGRAL PART OF THE OS, and as such its forced usage was an illegal monopolistic ploy that was an unfair, and anti-competetive attempt to crush a competitor's product.

Yet now we have EDGE doing the same thing EXACTLY once again. MS has now made EDGE uninstallable, it changes default filetype assignments for web-based documents, PDFs and some other forms of XML files to EDGE when it initially was updated earlier this year, and it is now uninstallable.  The "excuse" is that it is an integral part of the OS since it is now the module that runs the Windows Search functions.  If you type into the search bar, and you select to search the Web you are FORCED to use EDGE AND BING to do so even if you chosen default web-browser is from a third party and your default search engine is not Bing.  So if the EU does not once again prosecute MS for the EXACT SAME ANTI-COMPETETIVE, MONOPOLISTIC BEHAVIOR of the IE case, MS will subsequently make File Explorer (and therefore desktop icon interaction ) and Start menu management a module of EDGE, under the guise that a basic function of the Operating System is URI search and access regardless of whether the URI is local, LAN or Internet / cloud based. And if that argument is won, MS will soon add code to the OS to remove / disable third-party browsers, search engines, and email clients to force you into a MS 360 subscription and MS Store Appsas your ONLY computing application options. Developers who are smart should be looking at creating Linux versions of their applications as a hedge.

Think I saw something recently about a problem with the 'Sleep' function. Can't remember exactly what it was but thought it may have been a monthly update description that mentioned similar problem although was not connected with WaasMedic running on wake up or shutting down computer. What happens if you don't put to sleep ? I have never used Sleep or Hibernate, seems pointless for me, normally when computer is on, doing something, sometimes may leave for 30 minutes or so to give it time to catch up with background tasks etc, in sleep mode I don't think some of these actually run. Just look at the 'Fast Start' feature where the computer is in deep sleep mode which can cause a lot of issues as I found out out with a version 8.1 computer years ago - unaware of the feature is ON by default - MS don't tell you that. I'm old enough to remember when buying a computer, it was supplied with a user manual - now you don't even get anything, you are totally on your own.

Here is what happens to me:

• I regularly use "Sleep" (instead of shutdown) when leaving the computer
• When I come back, I start using the computer, but I observe: (i) WaasMedic eating up a lot of CPU and (ii) after a few minutes it actually SHUTS DOWN THE FREAKING COMPUTER after some random 3 to 20 minutes. It does that almost daily!
• If I come back to the computer and first kill WaasMedic, everything is working smoothly, and most importantly, IT DOES NOT SHUTDOWN THE COMPUTER!

Looking forward to WaasMedic not SHUTTING DOWN THE COMPUTER. (that would be so awesome!)

Waas did it's normal run on Sunday. Two minutes on one system, 19 minutes on another and at 12 minutes on another I just did an End Task from the Task Manger and it did not come back today. If you monitor the disk activity of Waas after it reads all the files in Windows>Servicing >LCU then Win SxS which is over 10 gigs of files it then starts reading your personal files including in the Documents folder and it even read my FireFox profile. Waas is nothing more than spyware and every time it pops up I'll just do an End Task. I did submit a diagnostics report through the Feedback Hub but I doubt anything will come of it. I was having private messages from the Microsoft employee who posted in this thread but he just started making imaginary excuses for Waas. He has absolutely no clue what's going on and either M$ is clueless or they know exactly what Waas is doing and they have absolutely no plans to stop it from wearing out our hard drives.
