WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Lately I've been seeing 100% Disk Usage in Task manager and Resource monitor, though no application or process is reported to be using more than small fractions of a percent of disk usage- .1-.4 MB/s, and there are only 3 or 4 of these. How is that possible?

    Received June's WUD's this morning, includes 'News & Interests'. This was originally released as option KB5003214 Preview. Apparently on installing, they were bugs in the update, these seem to be resolved. If this was tested before even Preview release, why did it contain bugs. One of the features is News which I assume duplicates the News app already part of Windows. Instead of duplicating existing apps & issuing gimmicks, why don't Microsoft divert resources to solving existing issues as WassMedic - confirmation that the problems being encountered by users does not concern MS. Who are we to complain about inconveniences experience being a Windows user.

    I was dismay to find out that after disabling all services related to windows updates, including Cortana (Searchapp.exe under C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy, where I have sacrificed search fundtion) to resolve the 100% disk usage, I have assumed that the latest Windows update might have resolved them.

    To my dismay, Microsoft added another new process related to Windows updates to increase the already 100% disk usage - moUSO core worker process.

    First it was forced Windows update, locking out users from using their PC, especially when they have urgent need to use their PC immediately.

    Now is 100% disk usage for endless scanning of files in the name of Windows Updates.First, it was WaasMedic Agent Exe that drag Windows performance to unusable condition, then they added the new moUSO core worker process to ensure disk usage is retained at 100%.When will Microsoft stop endless Windows Update so that we have a chance to use our PC properly?The main purpose of buying a PC is to use the computer, not to keep Windows up-to-date. If Microsoft keep messing up Windows Update, more users will be migrating to the Mac.

    MS is most likely going to "solve" this problem by hiding this malware under svchost like they did with superfetch.

    Guys, when are we going to fully switch to Linux?
