WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Before Windows 8 came along, I really though Apple was a poor excuse of an OS, just a gimmick to trick brats to throw their money Apple's way.

    As time passes MacOS seems more viable by the day. Especially with Windows going down the tubes as fast as it did.

    my personal advice for everything that has this behavior, just let your PC run for some hours every week, and let every programm do its updates, especially with slow internet and slow harddrives, this is essantial.

    This morning my normal scheduled run of 8 mins duration after 21H1 update installed by MS, perhaps too early to tell but we shall see what follows. Assume there may be another run in day or two as yesterday had the 'update'. Noticed in the past that it appears to have an unscheduled run following an update. Hard to follow as I have found things get updated without going thru' WUD's.

    Watch your intenet / network activity when you get the high disk read warning. I think you'll see network activity maxing out as well since WaasMedicAgent and a number of its 'helpers' ARE NOT WINDOWS UPDATE REPAIR TOOLS. (Even an MS official said that was merely an assumption by uninformed users - forget that MS's printed description says it is an update repair tool.) Rather they are MS spyware that is updating MS's profile of the contents of your machine in complete disregard of any "privacy choices" you have made or privacy laws that are currently on the books.

    Can we say "To Big to Prosecute"?

    I have Norton 360 installed, one module notifies when you in the performance settings of high CPU, disk activity etc. Every time WassMedic runs, I get a high disc usage warning which is disc read, disc write comes back as normal. Surely if the Medic part is putting on a plaster & repairing something, there would also be an associated high disc write repairing the issue, but no, it is all read so evidently not repairing anything. There again, if it does actually repair something, why the need to run again, if you repair something you expect it to be repaired, once & for all, not having to come back @ regular interval & have another go. This is why MS description of this process is very vague, suspicions are it is doing something else in stealth mode. Not a very good recommendation for MS & Windows 10 if it needs constant Medic attention.
