WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Thanks,

Paul...

I found this problem on my desktop was related to Microsoft Store updates. When I navigate in the "Store" I can watch my disk usage jump up to 100% just while checking for updates.

MarcHoppe. I am also still on 2004, 20H2 being shown as an optional update, deferred it with the current issue here as my problem does not appear as bad as some. Last few days, now shows update option now changed to 21H1, have not checked yet what this update involves in 'improvements', assumed until you were on 20H2 next version would not be offered.

The thing is even with an SSD it's going to take more than a few seconds for WaaS to scan all the files at least on this system. I would be able to catch it in the Task Manager because it would have to read gigs of files as it does on my systems with HDD. The WinSxS folder alone is over 6 gigs in size on this system and that folder gets scanned every Sunday on my studio system. WaaS runs so fast on this system that it's over before I can even open the task manager while on my studio system which has a more powerful CPU and more ram but an HDD it will run for 13+ minutes. The only other difference is this system is running 20H2 and the studio is still running 2004. I'm going to do a full backup of all the files on my studio system sometime this week or next then install 20H2. That tells us all we need to know about Windows that we have be afraid of losing all our data just because of a wonky Windows update. But my laptop is running 20H2 and it's more affected by WaaS than any other system sometimes running for 20 minutes so I don't hold out hope that 20H2 will bring a fix.
