Great to see another seafaring brethren. I couldn't quite resolve your uniform cover's insignia - Coast Guard? I see you were a Warrant Officer - not sure of the grade. I was a Naval Aviator for 8 years. Counting my trainers, I typed in 5 different AC. My primary role was reconnaissance. The best plane I ever flew was the North American Vigilante RA-5C. Like all of us, I'm aging up too. I retired from active flying 15 years ago. I too enjoy playing this sim, especially when you can complete your trip.

The abbreviation I used in my post - AV - references my anti-virus protection. I would not normally suggest to anyone they disable their computer's protection, but in this context I did that for a specific download. Here's a way to see your computer's update status: press the Windows key in the lower left corner of your keyboard - the key with the Windows symbol on it; when the Search field opens at the bottom left, type "winver" - without the quotes. When the status of your windows OS displays, make sure you have the latest version indicated: 21H1. If 21H1 is not indicated, then you have to download that update from Microsoft. Once you've established that you have 21H1 installed, follow the other directions I outlined above in my earlier post to download Flight Simulator. Good luck, Robert. Let us know how you make out.     As long as you're having fun - that's what counts. I ceased flying because I have leg & ambulation issues. I found it harder & harder to do the routine checks around the AC pre-flight. Taking a fuel sample was difficult even with an underwing petcock. I like flying the sim because it keeps me updated on flight deck evolution RE: Instrument arrays. I flew from '68 to '76 and everything was analog with a few exceptions back then. However, the A-5's (later RA-5C's) were the first fleet planes to feature HUD displays. Known as PPDI, it was terrible during daytime flight. It also featured a rudimentary electronic fly-by-wire system controlled by a computer under the seat. That was the first breakout move toward digitizing the cockpit. Now we have full glass flight panels that allow the crew to manage every aspect of flight. Speaking of flight - my favorite message reared its ugly head again in my FS. Mandatory update gremlin showed itself again today. Yes, open Microsoft Store and there you will find the mandatory update -NOT!!! This is a predictable and fixable issue that keeps repeating itself with this game. It's a real shame that MS seems to be impervious to all the complaints about the new FS. I'm going to try contact tech support and find out if MS even knows what's going on with these issues. I find it strange that there is a lack of presence from MS, i.e.: MS Technical personnel weighing in on some of the forum posts. I just don't think they have any real fixes - other than uninstall the program and then re-install from scratch - as if all of us who try to play this game have days and days to wait for the re-install to complete. What a disgrace.

    hi i have been trying for 3 days to install it via xbox game pass ...the furthest i have got is 70gib out of 106gib...i have tried doing it via my storage device but still not got any further i have tried run as admin and that doesnt help 

    any ideas ???
