Random Freeze and Unresponsiveness [Windows 10 20H2]

Having same problem. System had been rock solid stable with Win10 version 2004, installed 20H2 update and the next morning I walked into my machine having completely locked up. Nothing helpful in the system logs to indicate the cause. I let it go and 2 weeks later, same thing. Hard locked while the system was idle overnight - nothing in the system logs. I just rolled back to version 2004 today, so we'll see if that fixes the issue or not.

Just providing an update here, SO FAR, it's been stable again since rolling back to version 2004. Now it's only been like 12 days so that's not a huge sample size, but no signs of any issues since the rollback. I'd recommend some other folks try rolling back to 2004 also and see if the issue goes away.

Just another update here as it's been another 12 days (24 in total) since I rolled back to version 2004 - zero crashes or hangups since, so I will absolutely avoid the 20H2 update moving forward. May even skip the 21H1 update as well...Microsoft really needs to work on their QA.

Okay, so there's only one fix I could come up with to fix this problem. Go to Windows Update Settings>View Update History>Uninstall Updates. In the list that comes up, find the Windows update that says something like Windows 10 blah blah "VERSION 20H2". Select this and uninstall this. Problem solved. Did this, last in Jan 2021, windows automatically updated the version yesterday, and I immediately started facing the problem again. Rolled back the update, and it was back to fine again. I can assure you that this update is problematic. IT EVEN TRIGGERED BIOS UPDATES!!! Hardcore bios updates, not the ones which Windows has. My device drivers are knocked out of the park if you let it run for too long.

I've got the same issue Ryzen 7 4800hs mostly when I'm using Visual Studio. The laptop just freeze and the only way is to hold the power button and reboot the system.

What could cause this issue, I've check the error logs, but there is nothing specific?

I had latest windows 10 20h2 and my laptop started randomly freeze, cant move mouse screen stuck just had to turn off manually,

i tryed windows 8.1 and it worked without freezing. I will try older version of windows 10 now and i will report how it go.

My laptop HP Omen 17 with 10th intel and RTX 2080 Super.

I have this issue including random shut down since Windows version 1909. There are days where my laptop would run just fine and then there will be a day where my laptop would either freeze randomly or shut down on its own (few times a day sometimes) without any warning. The screen would go black but my keyboard would still have its lights on but when I press any key, it won't do anything. I have no choice but to force reboot my laptop. I've sent my laptop to GeekSquad three times but no luck. They told me there was no issue with my hardware whatsoever. I've tried every solution that I can find on the internet but still couldn't find the solution. Please help. I can't use my laptop properly if this issue keep coming up. I'm using MSI GS63VR 8RE, GTX1060, running the latest windows 10.
