Bluetooth mouse freezes intermittently since the May Windows 10 (ver. 2004) update

Ever since this update my Bluetooth mouse continues to freeze for a few seconds intermittently. I own a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse and

Microsoft Modern Bluetooth Mouse and the problem exists with both. Tried a Logitech Pebble and again, the same issue. I've tried the troubleshooter

  • it solves nothing. Tried to update drivers - nothing. Restarting Bluetooth - doesn't work.

No matter what attempts to resolve this problem I have discovered, they have all failed.

Can someone help me with this?

This is a summary of the Potential solutions I found in this thread. I am not sure which one would work the best or work at all:

DISABLE BLUETOOTH POWER SAVE

Press Windows + X and select Device Manager

There you will find the Bluetooth adapter

Right click the adapter and select Properties

Uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"

Click Ok

MOUSE REGISTRY HACK

Add the following keys at this location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_8087&PID_0026\5&2816b067&0&10\Device Parameters

"DeviceSelectiveSuspended"=dword:00000000

"SelectiveSuspendEnabled"=dword:00000000

"SelectiveSuspendSupported"=dword:00000000

ENABLE MOUSE POINTER TRAILS

Go to Settings > Mouse

Click "Additional Mouse Options"

Click the "Pointer Options" tab in the resulting dialog box

Check the "Display Pointer Trails" box, you may also want to set the slider to short

Click Ok

DISABLE ENHANCE POINTER PRECISION

Go to Settings > Mouse.

Click the "Additional Mouse Options" option

Click the "Pointer Options" tab in the resulting dialog box

Uncheck the "Enhance pointer precision" box

Click Ok

SCREEN & SLEEP OPTIONS

Press Windows + X and select Power Options

Set the power option to NEVER for screen and sleep

    It could be specific to Intel Bluetooth chipsets/drivers... try locating it here:

    1. Open 'Device Manager' through start menu or WIN+X or WIN+R typing devmgmt.msc
    2. Expand Bluetooth
    3. Go in properties of 'Intel(R) Wirekess Bluetooth(R)'
    4. Select 'Details' tab
    5. Select 'Device instance path' from drop-down and look at the value

    Find this value in the registry and that should be what you're looking for. Of course depending on your system, it could be one of the other Bluetooth entries listed - have a nosey around. I have the Logitech MX Anywhere mouse, but this should apply to other bluetooth devices also.

    I activated mouse trails and for a day I thought that had solved the problem, but today the mouse froze for a couple of seconds. This is actually a big improvement, if not a prefect fix. Five or six times a day was the norm previously. I will leave it this way as it is better than it was.

    Thanks.

    No, the problem started with the May 2020 update, which is clearly the case for very many other people, which you would know if you did a bit of research. Obviously not you. Why you're here being obnoxious I have no idea.

    Already tried reinstalling the Bluetooth drivers and this doesn't work.

    The power management setting isn't the problem as the checkbox is already unchecked. The box is also greyed-out and cannot be selected anyway - another problem that occurred since the ver. 2004 update.
