Solution for: Epson scanner no longer works after Windows 11 update

Resolved for me, want to share with the Community:

Forget about the Epson interface and instead download and use the "Windows Scan" app here:

Once I did that my Epson DS-510 started working again. You select what device you want to use, either printers or scanners. Your scanner should appear in the dropdown list if is connected.

Some history: I had updated to Windows 11 in November 2023, and for about half a year I was able to use the DS-510 like previously. My Epson DS-510 mysteriously stopped working in May-June of 2024. In that timespan I had installed some Windows 11 updates.

Today I spent over 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Epson support and they tried to help but couldn't figure it out. Also in the course of that call we came across an option to use a Microsoft scanning app "Windows Scan," but the Epson tech said to ignore that and kept looking for other solutions.

Finally one of them said why don't you call Microsoft? It seemed to make sense to me that the problems was related to the Windows 11 update in May-Jun, since that coincided with the Epson no longer working. Then suddenly I said to myself why not at least try the Windows Scan app, and that turned out to solve the problem!

    Thanks for reply, i did look at this from this thread, it would appear my windows 11 upgrade was upgraded on win 24H2 so i don't have a 23H2 to revert back to ;

    I can see last Cumulative Update on Feb 11th which is the likely culprit, i am looking at how you roll this back, but i'd rather continue to get updates so looking for another way round at the minute.

    I just installed an old Cannon Lide 300, got the drivers and software from Cannon website site.. listed as 'Windows 11' drivers and software and works fine (but really need A3) .. its a shame Epson doesn't keep UpToDate and easy to retrieve.

    What worked for me was to revert back to Win 23H2. Then I went online to find out out to set WIndows so it would not update itself again.

    Same issue, recent windows 11 upgrade from 10, workforce wf-7610 working quite happily - first thing i checked.. this week won't detect scanner .. re installed espon scan 2, nothing on epon site suggests need window 11 special drivers ..

    WHY!! . .hours of my days holiday trying to find a solution.. argh...

    Any more suggestions for the Espon Scanner group of users?

    I went to the Configuration button... selected "other" and pressed Reset All..

    .. All is reset and working!

    Whew!

    I want to know why WINDOWS would update ANYTHING that would interfere with personal property! I do not use my Epson or computer for anything but MY personal matters and now I can't scan and send anything to my attorneys because Microsoft took it upon themselves to add this "security feature" and I am no longer able to use a PRINTER/SCANNER that I paid for! And just where do I find this WINDOWS SCANNER app so I can get my crap done!?
