switch pro controller not detected by pc on a new install

my pc (new install) doesnt detect my switch controller while wired, it doesnt make a noise when i connect it either, does anyone know why, usb port and cable are both fine as they worked before on my old install

    Sorry, I wasn't too clear on my instructions. If you're using a desktop, please try on the front ports, or if you have one, try a non USB 3.0 port.

    May I ask if you're plugging it in to the usb C port? Please try to connect it to the composite port. (Samengesteld USB-apparaat)

    May I also ask what is the exact make and model of your controller?
