Windows 11, version 24H2 won't install

Can't download or install windows media player from store, starts download and they says there's been an error. I've tried 25+ times. I phoned the numbers they supply for help and they say to go on line. On line tells me to phone support. What a total joke Windows 11 is.

Windows media player is already included as standard in every Windows 11 OS.

You don't need to download it from the Store.

Just type the name in the SEARCH BOX and open the app.

I give up. Now I don't care for this **** update.

Same problem . 68 percent is where it gets stuck. Then the damn machine restarts and Windows update says error.

I have followed almost all the methods I found online like installing from the MS upgrade tool, clearing Software distribution Folder, checking for corrupt files and repairing then through command prompt. One method pending is deleting unauthorised profiles before Installing the update . Will try that tomorrow . Oops it's already tomorrow. Been doing this **** all night . And this is April 2025 with this problem still happening.

windows needs some serious disruptive competition. An OS that can be a very high quality and reliable alternative to it. This is utter nonsense . This is just total mental agony.

I installed the big 24H2 update on my computer (HP 470 G9 laptop, Windows 11 Pro).

It failed several times at first, when I tried to install it in several different ways!

Here are the different steps:

1) It originally appeared for download on Windows Update on Nov 22. I tried to download it 2 times – the download always stopped at 8%

2) It appeared again on Windows Update on Dec 15. Now the download and installation proceeded to the end – but then the installer started automatically undoing the changes made to the computer --> reverted back to v. 23H2

3) I then tried installing from the ISO file --> failed (for some reason it reported a problem with the installation language (?) --> could not select the option at all: “Keep my files and apps”

**4) The update finally went well and without any problems with this method:**💻👍👍

Windows 11 Installation Assistant doesn't even work....it won't install. It's 2025 and Microsoft is proving to be more and more garbage...My PC is less than 1 year old with 17% storage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been following the discussion here for many months now about the serious installation problems with 24H2.

Two questions immediately come to mind:

1) How on earth did Microsoft have such a "disaster" with 24H2 --> reliability has completely disappeared?

**2) What happens to the huge number of ordinary users who don't have the necessary know-how or time for complicated fixes that may not even help?**💻🤔😒

2. They are left dangling unless Microsoft reverses the memory integrity test and tightening up. That's not going to happen I don't reckon since it was a design decision, perhaps not properly thought though.

Then you had those drivers not properly tested.

1. That's 2. There is some thought that Microsoft was developing Windows 12 and what got into Windows 11 was an improved security spec that then undermined the user base since it was not compatible for some users.

Perhaps like the migration from Windows 10 to 11 they may give way on what they deem as an essential of the spec. They could say, OK let's not bother with memory integrity as far as they they have weekend their position on TPM.

Testing and QA is what has been missing and lessons learnt. You get the feeling that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. We have seen that with published positions and withdrawn on TPM. Now it's weakened again... difficult to keep up.
