STRANGE!
I did not remove any drivers or any software.
I did not remove my "third party antivirus product" (F-Secure).
I did not edit the registry.
I did not use any thirds party tools.
And - I did not change anything else on my laptop.
How do you comment this?
Because there is a given percent that install without an issue. That's is why. I've found that figure to be a staggering 50% on fully compliant W11 hardware. That's why. That figure has obviously dropped from all past releases. Sample size of two.
It's widely known that Microsoft has an issue with 24H2. They effectively admit it with their holds on the roll out and bug reports.
I'll also bring up your comment/answer above to my question Dec 28, 2024.
If what you said is true --> that would be a huge disaster and stress for millions of ordinary users!
They try ... try ... try to install 24H2 and nothing works as we have seen in this forum.
Why on earth would Microsoft do such a harsh thing to its own customers?
Could it be due to indifference, money, lack of resources or too big goals?
Who knows they laid off their testers so the story goes and use the Insider program instead. What I've seen in comments from those guys that evaluated 24h2 in the summer of 23h2 and said it wasn't very good. What happens when you use amateurs rather than professional. It wasn't released when they were blathering on about it.
They probably treat the PC / Laptop as a consumer item and expect you to go out and buy a replacement one that works which updates. A lot of personal time is invested by customers on what is on the hardware and certainly don't want to reinstall everything again at the whim of Microsoft.
Reality seems to be that a different version of Windows 12 was being developed. This is the story that has been suggested but they kept to the current Windows 11 line, with the bump in the road as they changed the backend security making the annual update problematic for some that had drivers that were not compatible. So yes, there is probably some truth in that.
I'm not asking relatives whether they have updated to 24h2 since if they are happy with what they have got, not worth worrying the elderly ;). Due to distance I can't sort it out if there was an issue.
