We upgraded to 24H2 and now our SCR3310 card reader is no longer recognized and we now cannot log in with our CAC card. Is there a fix?

We downloaded latest drivers, removed and reinstalled the driver, tried different USB ports. It shows up as working properly in Device Mgr but that's it. The light won't come on, it ignores the reader. Help.

I have two of these SCR3500 card readers, and both became inoperable after installing Microsoft's 24H2 Windows 11 release. Device Manager indicated that the driver was functioning correctly and the device was operational, but the readers would not read the CAC card—consistent with what others have reported.

The only resolution I found, regardless of any changes to core isolation settings or anything else, was to roll back the 24H2 release. This rollback seemed to be the only effective fix at the time.

However, here's where things get confusing. While dealing with this issue, I rebuilt another laptop and reset it to factory settings (Windows 10). During the patching process, it upgraded to Windows 11, including the 24H2 release. I decided to test my two SCR3500 readers on this machine, and surprisingly, they worked without issue.

This leads me to wonder if a patch or update for the 24H2 release has since resolved the card reader problems. Has anyone else checked for updates or installed anything recently to address this issue? I'm curious if others have seen similar results or have insights into this strange inconsistency. Reason I ask, is i wonder if its safe now to re-install the 24H2 on my original laptop?

    got a reply:

The latest Windows 11 update will cause the driver to be disabled.
Please turn of Memory Integrity in Windows 11 to resolve this issue.

    Right click Windows icon.
    Select System
    Select Privacy and Security
    Select Windows Security
    Select Device security
    Select Core isolation details
    Turn off memory integrity

Already tested this and nothing change.

For me, issue is from "Smart Card Service" or discussion between this service and windows core, not on drivers side - all my test seems to confirm this, as if I delete drivers and unplug reader, issue is same on "certutil.exe -scinfo" command.

Tested (as Matt Dooris) and issue still present.

Tested by delete old drivers and reinstall smartcard reader and last drivers (4.68) but same issue.

In my case, reader is "SCR35xx USB..." but issue is exactly the same and linked to the windows 24H2 upgrade

    Exactly,

did the same today again, downloaded again the latest drivers from - https://support.identiv.com/scr3310v2/

and still didn't resolve the problem

to my luck that pc still had the 10 days grace period to restore to previous build so we did it and right away problem fixed.

    i also contacted the manufacture - https://support.identiv.com/contact/

    got a reply:

We tried it as well and it didn't solve the problem.

only thing to solve it was to restore back to previous windows build.

and sent them again a support ticked that it didn't solve it and a a link to this conversation thread - and asking them to contact Microsoft Team on behalf of their side, as it breaks usability with their product.
