Windows Update Troubleshooter failing to run, anyone else having problems?

Both my Desktop and Laptop are suffering the same problem when attempting to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Operating system is Windows 11 24H2 with all updates applied to 11 December 2024 including KB5048667. After going through to the point where the troubleshooter runs, I get "I'm sorry.  I was unable to run the Windows Update diagnostic. I might need to transfer you to an agent to help solve your problem." I've done all the obvious (sfc, DISM) and no problems were found. I'm thinking it must be a generic problem as it happens on both my Windows 11 machines.

    I have this issue, too.

Windows Update is looping on installing 2024-11 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 24H2 for x64 (KB5048162). The error is Install error - 0x800706be. All I can is is retry the update again.

I have tried the instructions above. I get "Access denied" on the two rename commands. "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat" is not found.

I have also performed a Windows 11 recovery, retaining all apps and data.

We all need a solution that works. Thanks!

Hello, I'm having the same issue with my laptop. It started when my Windows downloader began saying my version of Windows has expired, but I'm using 11.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
