Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (build 26100.3194) ms-settings, start button, search and other not working, Unable to reinstall in place.

My desktop computer:

built for windows 11,

12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400, 2500 Mhz,

BIOS American Megatrends Inc. 9003, 11/04/2022 ,

SMBIOS 3.4 ,

ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME H610T2-CSM D4 MotherBoard

After last update, ms-settings, start button, search bar and other fuctionality does not work,

I tried as usually with elevated cmd:

sfc /scannow -> no problem detected

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth -> no problems detected

DISM.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth -> restore succeded.

reinstall in place (after configuring for a clean startup) terminate (100%) but does not succed.

This is my C:\Windows\Logs\SetupDiag\setupdiagresults.xml:

I checked the

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:"E:\sources\install.wim" from a mounted iso of windows 11 24H2 that I downloaded for the In place Reinstall.

I restarted OS but nothing changed.

From the Event Wiewer I found a lot of DistributedCOM 10001 errors (Sorry but my Windows OS is Italian):

    I just uploaded your cbsdiag.bat results and setupact.log and setuperr.log

    I have read that CBS (Component-Based Servicing) is how Windows system files are installed & updated. The original files are written to \Windows\WinSxS, and during installation are hard linked to their target folders (ie. \ Windows\System32).

    As the OS crashed during the last attempt to update to version 24H2 may be that some static files were not updated correctly.

    I read your cbsdiag.bat file in wich you launch an SFC /Scannow (terminating without error) and then get cbs logs, dism logs,

    Component Base Services data from the registry, OS Version, my time Zone,

    all informations about packages, manifests.

    I am glad of learning this and I hope you suceed in resolve this problem.

    There is corruption in the component store.

    1. Please download CBSDiag.bat from the GitHub page below:
    1. Right-click cbsdiag.bat, click Properties, select Unblock, and click OK.
    2. Right-click cbsdiag.bat, and choose "Run as administrator".

    (The batch file contains plain text code. You can read its contents using Notepad before running it. It collects the CBS registry key and servicing-related information to fix the corruption.)

    The batch file creates a file named CBSDiag.zip on your desktop. Share the file on https://gofile.io/

    1. Additionally, share the following log:
    • C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log

    You can zip those logs and share the archive on https://gofile.io/

    I deduce that the problem is on an optional Windows OS component (OC) and the package name is "Foundation"

    Analyzing the xml tags we find:

    Error: SetupDiag reports Optional Component installation failed to open OC Package.

    Last Phase: Finalize

    Last Operation: Gather data,

    scope: EVERYTHING

    Package Name: Foundation

    Error: 0x8007001F

    So the problem is a failure in installation of a Windows OS optional component.

    From the remediation tag I found:

    Recommend you check the "Windows Modules Installer" service (Trusted Installer) is started on the system and set to automatic start reboot and try the update again

    (I checked that Tusted Instaler is starter and set to automatic)

    Optionally, you can check the status of optional components on the system (search for Windows Features), uninstall any unneeded optional components, reboot and try the update again.

    (I checked Windows optional components panel executing optionalfeatures.exe but the panel is unespectedly empty.

    As no windows functionality is present it is not possible to add or remove.

    Thank you for your feedback, it was a pleasure to assist you with this issue

    I did notice that your issue came up after an update

    In the last two months, many users have had the same issue after an update

    But last time the issue was fixed

    The issue may have come up again with an update

    I would recommend uninstalling the update

    You can click on the windows key settings & you can also uninstall it by clicking on the windows key settings. You can uninstall the update by clicking on the windows key “Settings” “Windows Update” “Update History”

    and then see if the problem disappears

    If the problem disappears, you can update again in the next update and wait for Microsoft to fix the problem
