Your Phone calls unusable due to too much echo

I have setup Your Phone on my PC and Phone Companion on my phone (Nokia 7.1) - both devices have latest software and are fully patched.

While I can make and receive phone calls via the Your Phone app on the PC (and they sound fine at my end) the other parties all complain of excessive echo so that I need to conduct the call on the phone.

My mic and speaker settings are the same as I use for Skype, Zoom, Hangouts, etc. - how do I trouble shoot this?

Is it possibly caused by the mic / speakers on the phone remaining active during the call?

Thanks

Pino

    Update: problem still stands, got up from my desk for 5 minutes and my phone lost bluetooth connection with my computer as expected, when I got back I had echo on the next call, so again went to check my input device and it was blank, selected the correct one and no more echo.

    Basically everytime you reconnect bluetooth you have to select input device again.

    @microsoft come on!

    EDIT: so it's even worse than what I said, input device needs to be selected on every single call, it's also as I said before, if you dont select the input the phone is going to use it's own microphone instead of the headset.

    This actually solved it for me as well, I didn't have to reset sound devices at all, only selected the correct input since it was blank.

    Could it be the microphone in use was actually the phone it self before? If so it's kinda stupid.

    @microsoft you need to fix this

    I'm gonna wait and see though, I thought I had found the solution before only to have echo a couple of calls later. This one sounds promising though,

    At first, I also could not see the "Micropohone (phone_name Hands-Free HF Audio)" option. So then, with the settings still open, I made a call with the Your Phone app, and it appeared. I had previously tested Your Phone after upgrading my computer to Windows 11, and I still had the echo problem. So today I tried lowering the "Microphone (phone_name Hands-Free HF Audio)" volume to zero as suggested, but that essentially turned off the call audio output, so of course it eliminated the echo but it's not really a solution for using the PC to make calls.

    Then I noticed there was a button at the bottom to "Reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to the recommended defaults," and when I clicked the carrot to the right of "Micropohone (phone_name Hands-Free HF Audio)" there appeared pulldowns for "Output device" and "Input device". The "Output device" had my PC speakers selected, but the "Input device" pull-down box was blank. I forget the order, but I pushed the "Reset" button, and then also clicked the "Input device" pull-down box and selected my PC microphone. Then I made a test call, and it appears the echo has been eliminated. So one or both of those steps may have been the solution for me. I will repost if it doesn't stay that way (can you tell I'm skeptical?) :)

    I may only be getting the "Output device" and "Input device" options because I have multiples of each. However, I believe that when I first had the echo problem last year on Windows 10, I only had one input and one output device - my PC's built-in microphone and speakers - except when I was testing various portable external devices to try to find a solution.

    Here is a screen shot of my settings (after selecting the input device):
