I was trying to get my phone number off my old account that my brother was using, but every time I try to add my phone number its keep saying "That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method", and the tab says "Blocked", and at first I thought my account was block [for Some reason], but I could still sign in, Then i tryed to refresh a few times. but that also didnt work, and the thing is I can put the phone number, back on the other account, but not on the other one i'm trying to get it on.

This comes up when trying to bringup my outlook account on my iphone 16. It says it can not bring up my mail and asks me to enter my password. I enter last 4 of my phone number to do that it is totally locked. It tells me to use another verification method but does not say how or any other options.,

email works everywhere except the phone. It may be because I did not know the password and tried too many times.

However, It makes the phone useless.

is google mail a better option????

Especially since the iphone is the only place that does not work?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The message "That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method" usually indicates that the verification process via phone number is temporarily unavailable or that there's an issue with the phone number you're trying to use. The fact that it says "Blocked" on the tab might mean that the system has flagged your attempt as unusual activity and is preventing changes to your verification settings as a security measure.

Here's what you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Use a Different Verification Method:
      • If you have an alternative verification method set up, such as a secondary email address or security questions, try using that method instead.
    2. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies:
      • Sometimes, clearing your browser's cache and cookies can resolve these issues. After clearing them, try the verification process again.
      • Disclaimer: Your browser automatically saves temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix website issues. Please back up all your personal files first, such as Favorites, to ensure you do not lose data.
    3. Try a Different Browser or Incognito Mode:
    4. Check the Phone Number:
      • Ensure that the phone number you are trying to use isn't already associated with another account. Some services do not allow a phone number to be linked to multiple accounts.
    5. Account Recovery Options:

What I tried that worked for me, is I had to add another email to my account as a back up first before attempting to remove the phone number. Once the new email is added, I was able to remove the old phone number and add my new one. I hope this helps someone.
