I used the same method as Danilo35 and it successfully installed the update.
KB4566782 Update Loop
My laptop is running Windows 10 2004 OS build 19041.388 and windows update decides to automatically install cumulative update KB4566782 (build 19041.450). The installation will fail (0x800f081f) during updating Windows and Windows update automatically retry to install it until my laptop's battery dies.
How get out of this update loop?
update: We need a true solution, and please do not mark reinstalling windows 10 as an answer, dear moderators.

2020-08-16T23:38:35+00:00 Thanks for this Holly. I do indeed have Windows 10 2004 64 bit but the last time I checked yesterday, I still couldn't install that update.
I'm going to wait and see what happens with the next one & I'll let you know how it goes. Take care of yourself Holly & all the best!

2020-08-16T22:02:46+00:00 No, I just looked and on the message I sent about the update finally installing I see I made a typo. The update that finally installed was::
KB4566782 not 3. I'm sorry as I must have been so happy to get the update installed I made a typo mistake. I try to proof read but that mistake I missed. Sorry. Did you ever get that update installed?
Holly
PS: I am going to go back and try to edit that mistake so if others see it they won't be confused.
Also just going back to check on the typo mistake I made I see you have the same version of Windows 10 I have: Windows 10 version 2004 so you should have gotten the update that worked unless maybe you don't have 64 bit and that makes a difference.
I was able to edit that typo mistake by me.
PS2: My relative said he is always getting Windows updates that fail to install and thought I was correct in not trying many of the suggestions--just wait as you and I did. However, if you still haven't got that update which has been made to install maybe you should do what I did and. get in touch with Microsoft. If you decide to get in touch with Microsoft, let me know and I'll tell you how I did it.

Thank you for the information.
I did perform an in-place repair and it went well. However, it worked for me without removing any of my 3rd party antivirus software. I was working previously with another Microsoft Community person for a couple of days and that was the same final recommendation he suggested.
Regards,

I decided to perform a rest and the issue was resolved.
