My laptop is running Windows 10 2004 OS build 19041.388 and windows update decides to automatically install cumulative update KB4566782 (build 19041.450). The installation will fail (0x800f081f) during updating Windows and Windows update automatically retry to install it until my laptop's battery dies.

How get out of this update loop?

update: We need a true solution, and please do not mark reinstalling windows 10 as an answer, dear moderators.

Fixed by installing the v20H2 update through ISO. See my original post for details.

The Media Creation Tool should solve the problem.

    Danilo,

KB4566782 was never installed on my PC, and did also not reappear in the latest set of updates. While KB4566782 and KB45771756 are not identical I suspect that the failing KB4566782 code was rolled up in this new patch, which causes it to fail in a suspicious identical way. I wish Microsoft aknowledged the issue and gave some perspective towards a solution.
