Changelog for Cumulative updates released on March 10th, 2020 are as under:

  1. Windows 10 1903 and 1909~~: KB4540673~~ (OS Builds 18362.719)
  2. Windows 10 version 1809: KB4538461(OS Build 17763.1098)*

For Windows 10 1903/1909, It is recommended to install servicing stack update KB4541338 before installing the cumulative updates.

KB4551762 is now available for Windows 10 version 1903 and version 1909 that jumps the build number to 18362.720 and 18363.720. See this for more information.

    My laptop is quite old but been okay with windows 10 updates apart from this one and I think it was one about same time last year. On that occasion I was connected to a Microsoft engineer who eventually my bios was the issue as it couldn't support windows 10 even though it had been for a few years. It was their issue as the cumulative update was released and it's been pretty okay till now.

    My OS build is the same as yours.

    I went one step further today and downloaded the .net framework repair tool and ran it.

    Then I un-paused updates and and it tried to install KB4551762 (for the 7th time).

    Same result, fail - 0x800f081

    Repaused updates til May 8 

    EDIT: I am running version 3.5.30729.4926 of .net

    Hi Bob. I've given up with kb4551762, I tried windows update in safe mode but gave up. Ran the fix tool for windows update and trying kb4541335 again as this was the cumulative update that went straight into my desktop upstairs.

    My apologies. sir. But, still, it is a good suggestion for others.

    Are there any Third Party Programs or other hardware you have installed that may be conflicting with the current updates? As stated previously I (and probably thousands of others) have installed them all without issue so I am wondering what MAY be causing problems for SOME.

    I am a retired Software Engineer and I build my own machines.

    My bios was updated just last week.

    2- 27" monitors

    1 TB Flash drive.

    1 TB Internal HDD

    1 TB External HDD

    This is why I use my Manufacturer's Website Support as well as Microsoft in order to keep my BIOS up to date as well as other software and firmware not provided by the O/S.
