Bluetooth Headset cannot be used as both headphones and speakers

I have a bluetooth headset that does not allow me to use it as both a microphone and a headset.

I have determined that audio will play through the Bluetooth headset as long as the recording device is set to Conexant ISST Audio.  If I set the recording device to BHS-530 Hands-Free then no sound will play through either BHS-530 Playback device.

I can get audio to play while the BHS-530 Handsfree is setup as the Recording device but not while it is actively listening.  As an example my BHS-530 Stereo is selected for both my default audio and default communication device.  I start playing a YouTube video and audio works with the Playback menu is up in the Sound dialog (first screenshot), as soon as I select the recording menu (second screenshot) the audio stops.  If I switch the recording device back to Conexant ISST Audio the youtube video will continue to send sound regardless of which menu I am on.

What do I need to set so that I can use the headset for both audio and microphone (Microsoft Teams Calls)

The headset comes up as two separate devices once it connects to windows:

Playback Device

Type: Headset

Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free

and

Type: Headphones

Name: BHS-530 Stereo

Recording Device

Type: Headset

Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free

Type: Internal Microphone

Name: Conexant ISST Audio

(this is my laptop's internal mic)

    Hi Jay, 

    In may case, (i guess because I am using Bootcamp Windows 10) under the recording tab, my headset does not show in the list, it is under the playback tab but not under the recording tab.

    Somehow windows does not recognize the microphone bilt in the headset or the drivers have issues and they need to update them.

    I found this page because I bought new sony headphones and have exactly the same problem. Can't believe this thread is almost one year old and the issue is still here. 

    Thanks JayAAA for the detailed explanation how to get both, the input and the output working. Unfortunately this is not working for me, tried it now the third time and can't get it to work. Maybe I'm missing something...

    Disabled all the Audio devices and made the active ones unexclusive, when I turn of the mic in the recording section the Headset in the playback section is still muted. Only the Headphones are working.

    Thanks for the help anyway. 

    Maybe this thread will get some attention someday and the bug gets fixed.

    It makes no difference if it speakers or headphones, the headline of this thread is about headphones so I thought you got the same problem than me with headphones. Just make sure you disabled the "Allow aplications the exclusive control of this device" box in all devices too.

    Hi Jay, I've disabled all other microphone devices except my beatx bluetooth speaker under the recording tab, but still fail to record any voices from my beatx speaker. What do you mean by "go record devices layer and disable the headset mic"? Where is it?

    Thank you very much. Just about giving up making the usb bluetooth adapter both work for my beatx speaker and headphone.
