HI there,

I have an HP Envy with Windows 10 and can't seem to get my webcam / camera to work.

It is not listed on the Device Manager list.

Thanks for the help.

    Hi JacquiProspero,

I'm Stefano an Independent Advisor, here to help you.

Please check if it is listed under Hidden device.

    1. Press WINDOWS + X
    2. Click on "Device Manager"
    3. Click on "View"
    4. Click on "Show Hidden device"

If it is listed now, please uninstall and reinstall it following this steps:

    1. Click on "Camera"
    2. Right click on your camera
    3. Click on "Uninstall device"
    4. Click on "Detects Hardware change" (monitor icon)

Hi there - I did this and now it's gone from the device list altogether.

How do I get it back?

    I've restarted.

    HI Mark;

Unfortunately? I did what was first suggested and I even reinstalled the app (after removing it) and still get the same error message - but now I can't see the device on my device manager list - even with the "hidden" ones showing.

    Jacqui

Make sure that the Camera Privacy Switch that can be found on the right hand side of your laptop is not on. I was facing the same problem. This resolved it.

Before you waste hours troubleshooting this,  check if the privacy camera (anti hacking) switch is in the OFF position on the side of the laptop.
