Congrats on resolving the problem by switching from the Samsung Message app to the Google Message app.
Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge). I've been using the Google Message app for several months (which I double- and triple- checked to be sure), and I still have the problem.
As an FYI for everyone out there, here's a summary of what I know, so far:
- If you're having this problem, then you're probably using a Samsung phone.
- In that case, most people have solved this problem by switching the default messaging from the built-in default Samsung Message app to the (downloadable) Google Message app.
I might be able to really test it by uninstalling the (default) Samsung Message app, but I'll have to root my phone in order to do that, and I'm not really sure it's that important.
