My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

I have been investing dozens of hours into trying to get Epson Scan working properly on Win 10 since the 1803 update. My multi-function printer is an XP-410 and the printer and scanner work fine, but the Epson Scan software (until the 1803) offers all the functions that I want. However, today I decided to have another shot at correcting the various glitches that prevented the full use of Epson Scan. The main problems were that the folder for storing scans could only be changed by modifying the Registry (rather inconvenient) and the Preview window disappeared off-screen. I have two almost identical laptop PCs so by applying the same fixes to each, namely run in Administrator mode and XP compatibility seemed to fix all but the change-folder function and an occasional crash.

Today I uninstalled all the Epson software and reinstalled on the first PC from www.tech.epson.com.au (I'm in Australia) and noted that there is now a patch for 1803 dated July 2018 in the Win 10 64bit downloads. I have not looked for some time and I don't believe that I've ever found this particular website previously. Anyway, I installed the software I needed and got the Epson Scan working...so far. On tackling the second PC in a similar manner but using the recommended online install it failed to eliminate the issues. Uninstall again and reinstall by individual downloads, the change-folder problem was cured, but the preview window could not be seen. After comparing the Registries of both PCs, particularly: HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software|EPSON|EPSON Scan|ES00E9|Environment

    • a number of Data values were different or missing from the 2nd PC.

I edited the values of the 2nd PC to be the same as the 1st PC and everything seems to work ok on both...so far.

I'l do some intensive scanning over the next weeks to see what transpires.

The most significant difference seems to me to be a change from a 32 bit version to a 64 bit version in the uninstall/reinstall. Oh, and I changed the compatibility from XP to Win 8 (no 10 available), but retained the Run as Administrator.

    I hope this helps somebody.

    P.S. I'm on the 1909 Win 10 version.

    Thanks.

I am having similar issues as Morningstar. Epson scanner DS-510 will scan once, then requires a restart of my whole computer to scan again. This behavior began 5/22/18, the day my Windows 10 v. 1803 update was installed. Attempted Greg's solution and it did not work (I actually had my original driver CD, which I installed and updated). I will try to roll back the update next. IT takes SO much time!

It might be necessary to install that old of a driver in Compatbility Mode: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-non-...

Otherwise I'm afraid that the hardware may have been deprecated with the new version of WIndows 10. However if you want to hide the Update so it doesn't reinstall it then they may fix whatever caused it to stop working if you wait to install it, even skip to the next version in six months: https://www.howtogeek.com/224471/how-to-prevent...

The driver download is here: https://epson.com/Support/Scanners/Perfection-S.... Disks are dated as soon as they're pressed, all modern downloads come from the Support Downloads webpage for the software or product.

Printer steps are same for scanner when it comes to clean installing to avoid repeat problems. I would follow them closely, ask back if you have any problems.
