My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

I have been in contact with Epson on this issue on my V600.  Their latest fix i received today was to run a small utility to remove the Epson driver and clear registry entries.  They then have you delete temp files, etc and reinstall. While the fix only partly works, it is better than before.  It does not lock up anymore.  If you minimize the window it will go down to a small bar of some type that can't be brought back up.  but you can close it without killing the process.  So my rule is now to not minimize it!!

I am sure Epson will send anyone the utility and instructions if needed.  I did install the V600 driver off of the European Epson website (I am in the US).  It seems to have a small update which seemed to eliminate the freezing.

Here is the utility and instructions I got From Epson.

Alas I laughed too soon! I really thought this fix was working, and a few times it was. But no more. Like others on this thread, I'm stuck with an expensive scanner that's now useless.

    Thanks Epson.

    Thanks Microsoft.

Me too (tm). I have this problem after an 1803 update. Our epson v500 no longer works. I ran the utility mentioned above and will see if it fixes the problem. Posting here so i can get updates.

Obviously i can roll back to 17xx and fix this but since it will most likely auto update again, it seems pointless. god **** microsoft. If you are going to have a rapid release type cycle, then you should be rapidly fixing all the problems that this model causes too! This thread is from may. From MAY you have known about this problem and done nothing!!!

I totally Agree with you ,this is now getting to the point where i may have to purchase a new printer, and i think that epson/microsoft should pay for it , after all it both their faults that i now no longer have a printer that is fit for purpose,  perhaps there is a legal person on here who can launch a ~

Global lawSuit  against them    pretty shure it would get thing going .......
