My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

Thanks for the response, but it didn't help. Not being overly computer savy, I got help from Dell who got on a joint call with Epson. They couldn't get it to work. Then I contacted Microsoft whose only suggestion was to have Epson send me a new scanner.

My experience has been the same. Since setting Epson Scan to run as Administrator I haven't encountered any further issues. Thanks

My scanner is the V550, and my Windows 10 PC recently "enjoyed" the 1803 update.  (I had deferred it for quite a while).

I started to encounter the same problem as others - Epson Scan hanging after one scan, and a flickering dialog displayed offscreen behind the Start Menu.

I implemented the suggestion to run Epson Scan as Administrator and that seems to solve the problem for now. Thanks.

Similar problem but older scanner. Just purchased a new Dell. Mine is an Epson V500 Perfection series. When the Epson web site scans my pc - it gives a recommended driver and Epson Event Manager package. The Dell people and Epson were on line with me at the same time. Epson insisted it was the MS operating system and there driver was correct. Then Microsoft was called. The tech said there system has no problem and I needed to tell Epson to send me a new scanner.

The driver package they all recommend was published July 22, 2010, a few year before Windows 10. Doesn't seem logical to me but I still have no working scanner. And have paid for support help, with the last suggestion that the scanner is too old. Is it time to give up on a perfectly functioning scanner on my old pc>

    Hi Folks,

We're in a similar boat as everyone here. We have about 10 or so of the Epson GT-1500 scanners in our environment. We are in the process of rolling out Windows 10 and the Epson Scan software was giving us major issues on 1803. Goes "Not Responding" and crashes. Then gives the Troubleshooting message and won't launch again until you reboot....

    Tried several suggestions here:

    1. Asking the users to close the software immediately after scanning and saving. Not a very good workaround for users who scan constantly.
    2. Changing the shortcut to Run as Administrator - Didn't work
    3. A variety of Taskkill and service stop and start scripts etc. - Didn't work consistently

Here's what I'm currently testing, so I can't say whether this is going to be a good fix/workaround. We downloaded a newer Scanners version of the software (Epson DS-7000). Totally off the wall model but the date for the software was 7/17/2018, well after 1803 was released. We uninstalled the Epson scan for the GT-1500, then installed the newer version for Epson DS-7000, followed by the correct Epson scan for the GT-1500. What this did was leave the escndv.exe from the DS-7000 install and then add all of the files for the GT-1500 in C:\Windows\twain_32\escndv. It creates two scanner instances, so when you launch Epson scan you have to select which model to go with, but so far it hasn't crashed on us. It also still displays version 3.49A when you launch it. I would love to dive deeper into this by running Procmon to determine a little more about this, but for now I'm limited by time.

Take this for what it's worth (not saying this is a fix by any means), I'll report back with the results after more time to test.

**UPDATE** As of 2/14/2019 we have confirmed this is the best workaround for our users. During our Windows 10 Rollout I have had to implement this workaround for about 8 of my users and we are using this now without an issue. The only difference is they have to select which model (GT-1500) each time they open Epson Scan, but it's way easier than constantly having it crash and reboot the computer.

**UPDATE** As of 7/23/2019 we are still having great success with this workaround. I would suggest to anyone with a GT-1500 having issues to try my method above. This may also work with other Epson models as well, but we only have the GT-1500. I haven't had a call about the software crashing since we implemented the above fix.
