My epson perfection v700 scanner (that allows me to scan photos, negatives, documents, etc.) and that I paid over $800 for) stopped working with teh latest update two days ago. I've downloaded a new driver and other software from Epson and it doesn't work. Can I uninstall this update? I like my scanner a whole lot more than I like Windows.

Here's a fix for the disappearing window problem:

    http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/291186-epson-scan-utility-wont-work/page__view__findpost__p__2329211

It involves going into the registry and deleting the saved Environment for Epson Scan. On my machine this was: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EPSON\EPSON Scan\ES013D\Environment

It's mind boggling that something like this that should have a simple fix is still an issue.

Well I've finally found a way to get my V700 scanner working properly again - I resurected my old PC which runs Windows 7, downloaded the appropriate software from Epson and voila.  Everything works as it should and I'm a happy chappy again.

So got a notification through Epson Printer "Firmware Update" Available!! Thought to myself YAY!!! FINALLY!!! Hope this is the update to fix the problem!!! Well burst my bubble....still no fix!! Epson, I've given you wayyy too much time to fix this problem and I have had it. Looks like I will be getting rid of this Epson 7620 and going back to HP.  Sorry but not sorry!!

FYI, I have been running the scanner as Administrator to bypass this problem since the day it happened.

For what it's worth Yes on 1 and a modified Yes on 2.  Epson Scan runs fine as long as I don't open other windows that require "data" processing.  I can watch SiliconDust Tuner online TV and surf the Web while running scans but not work an Excel spreadsheet.  Same for my XP-830 with Epson Scan 4.X.x and Epson Perfection 4990 with Epson Scan 3.X.X

Do you have the latest Win 10 updates as well? Does running Epson Scan as administrator help? You may find that if you do all your scans in one go, without clicking on any other windows it will not crash.

    Kind regards

    Chris.
