Epson scanner will not work with latest windows 10 update

That's sad to hear that your PC won't start. I have been in that situation a few times and it can be very frustrating! You could try some of the suggestions below. I am sure it can be fixed.

It seems the old way of booting into safe mode using the F8 key does not work with windows 10. The first link gives you some suggestions how to fix the failed boot.

After following your instructions until step 5, I restarted the computer in a diagnostic startup and then try to use the printui command, the command never opened. After a while I had to turn off my computer and when I tried to restart it. I couldnt restart my computer anymore. I keep getting the "Your PC did not start correctly" and I haven been able to use my computer again. What do I need to do now, but a new computer? Please advise.

So far the epson scan updater has made a difference, with the user reporting that it did not crash yesterday after i ran it. When you run this, there is no indication that it has actually done anything, but yet the user reports that the scanner software is working.

and for mr/mrs JimWynne, don't be such an m$ apologist. Companies not supporting perfectly fine hardware should not be apologized for. These are some of the richest companies in the world. If its not supported because of merely software, what does that mean? More waste for the landfill and pointless costs to everyone else. Its an externality we all have to pay for in the end.

No one wanted windows 10, they had to force upgrade the masses to adopt it. And now we are stuck with this revolving door of broken feature updates and bugs long abandoned. And people like you justify this as a normal state of affairs. Sickening.

Me too (tm). I have this problem after an 1803 update. Our epson v500 no longer works. I ran the utility mentioned above and will see if it fixes the problem. Posting here so i can get updates.

Obviously i can roll back to 17xx and fix this but since it will most likely auto update again, it seems pointless. god **** microsoft. If you are going to have a rapid release type cycle, then you should be rapidly fixing all the problems that this model causes too! This thread is from may. From MAY you have known about this problem and done nothing!!!

As with the person up the thread a bit who has a V500 scanner, the most recent driver is dated 2010.  What this means is:

• Epson didn't create a driver for Windows 8/8.1 or 10.
• Given the first point, Epson got lucky with the driver apparently functioning in early versions of Windows 10 and let it go at that.
• The fact that it doesn't work in 1803 (for some people, apparently) should surprise no one.
• Epson clearly had no intent to fully support Windows 10.  If the 2010 driver hadn't worked at all, there most probably would have been no driver at all.
• None of this is Microsoft's fault, nor should anyone expect that Epson will do anything about it at this point.
