Why does my Onedrive.exe file disappear from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder?

For some reason, my onedrive.exe program gets deleted after a day from the %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

I have uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled it.  The program works for a day, but then the following day I notice that the OneDrive icon is not in my taskbar (i.e. OneDrive stopped running) and then when I go to launch the program, it says it can't fine OneDrive.  I navigate to the folder (noted above) and the OneDrive.exe file is no longer there.  

This is really strange.

Can someone help?

    I am the same setup. NOT Office insider but do have the subscription to Office 365.

    It certainly seems to coincide with/relate to updates of OneDrive for me.

    The new version gets downloaded to %appdata%..\local\microsoft\onedrive\xx.xxx.xxxx.xxxx however, whatever update process then occurs seems to preclude bothering to put onedrive.exe back in the %appdata%..\local\microsoft\onedrive folder.

    What usually tips me off is the Windows Defender Security Center prompting for me to set up OneDrive... or noticing that there are no longer green sync'd indicators on something I'm working on.

    Running the  %appdata%..\local\microsoft\onedrive\xx.xxx.xxxx.xxxx\OneDriveSetup.exe works for me, but is a pain in the backside. It does however put the onedrive.exe where it should be.

    My system is a completely Microsoft affair. Microsoft Surface Book. Microsoft Windows. Microsoft Office (O365). Windows Defender. Microsoft OneDrive. Makes it a Microsoft issue to resolve. Quickly. Please.

    Work Around

    First, a question: How many on here having this issue are on Office Insider? I suspect this issue is coming up each time Office Insider updates, which is about once a week.

    FWIW, I'm not on "Office Insider"..

    Have done the "workaround".. Seeking an at least semi-permanent fix.

    I am not an Office Insider either.

    ADDED 7/14/2018 18:46 EDTJust noticed that onedrive was apparently updated on my system at 13:13 EDT yesterday 7/13/18 to 18.111.0603.0006..  Hmmm..

    I have this problem and am NOT an Office insider. I do have a subscription to Office 365. I do agree the "OneDriveSetup.exe" solution works. The problem lies with not realizing OneDrive has stopped running until days (or weeks) later as the periodic updates are silent :-(
