Update Error 0x800706be for KB4103727

I used the response from JCAyer's post on May 22, 2018 and it solved my problem.               v.1803 upgrade.

When I say "upgrade" to v.1803, it really is a process of downloading a complete version of Windows 10 from MS, then installing it on my computer. It took nearly 5 hours, start to finish.  Kept all my files and applications with no issues. Suggest you try that approach. Once the download completes, the Windows installer takes over and essentially overwrites the old OS.

I can not seem to break out of the loop., I have tried to get the 1803 update, but sends me back to the existing version 1709. In settings update the KB4103727 keeps telling me (awaiting restart). I have gone off line and uninstalled and it re installs with 2 others (adobe flash and KB4134661 saying I need a restart).

For me the update partially installed and then left the PC nearly unusable. Working on Sunday just fine, installed 3 updates Monday and 1 failed. Now useless box that reboots randomly depending on activity.

Example -Start menu no longer works, some Icons no longer work, message center only works though searching for specific items. Can only log off or restart using CTRL-ALT-Delete, SFC /Scannow completes to 30% or 41% then locks up and leaves no errors in log.

This is a new PC, an Intel NUC 7i5 with lots of storage (200GB free on C: ) 16GB RAM, on 500GB NVMe SSD.

I ran the security troubleshooter and it fixed some things so now update KB4103727 shows 100% downloaded and 100% installed, then errors.

Also ran check disk, ccleaner, reg errors fixed, virus scan, & disk cleanup. Basically this system is perfect except it will not install KB4103727 completely.

NEW UPDATE

I downloaded the update directly from MS Catalog and installed. Seems to complete ok and rebooted. But still shows in Updates. When I tell that to update it goes to 100% and says "Awaiting Restart" now I get a new error that says it can't.  So I restart manually but no change.

The good news is that now Icons and start menu now works, so something got fixed.

I have determined that I should use DISM to update the image and I can now see errors using SFC even though it stops at 48%.

I mounted install.wim on D:\test tried to use the restore health command. (see below) but it gets to 76% then say it cannot find the source. WHAT! Of course I specified the source.  Here is my command line options:

Dism /Mount-Image /ImageFile:D:\install.wim /index:1 /MountDir:D:\test\

To repair local Image:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth /source:D:\test\windows /Limitaccess

MS KB is lacking: 

Any help with this is appreciated.

(I presume that is the image that needs mounting)

To help us to help you and to properly get answers to your post you should include some minimum information.

1.  Device type. ie Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Surface, Phone

2.  Who made it and model, HDD size. If home built what type motherboard, Intel, AMD, Drive size

3.  OS type, Home, Pro, Enterprise, etc

4.  Current build.  Go Settings, System. About. OS build XXXXXX.XXXX
