Modem Dongle not Working On Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Hi.

When I upgraded to 1709 (16299.19) I couldn't get my Huawei E3372 Modem to connect!

Before the upgrade I had no problem and with no drivers it could connect to the internet.

I have done everything that I think of, Unfortunately NO LUCK!

What is the solution?

2 Solution from Huawei : 

  1. Downgrade version of microsoft to the build 1703. You do a search how to downgrade your windows.
  2. Put a static IP on the network adapter of the stick. See image below.

Update from Microsoft will fix the problem end of November..

    after the latest window 10 update on the 31/11/2017 (30th? 29th?). my huawei e3372 dongle stopped working. today i got it to work again. here's what i did.. went to my internet browser history > went to last known date dongle was working (it doesnt have to be when it was working. as long as you can find the dongle ip address. usually its written on the dongle itself. mine isnt on the dongle so i had to use this method instead) > found it.. 192.168.8.1 ..copy it down.. went to control panel > network and internet > network and sharing centre > change adapter settings.. right click icon that represents my dongle, the one that says "remote NDIS based internet sharing device" > properties > select internet protocol version 4 > properties > check "use the following ip address" > ip address = 192.168.8.100 (the first 7 numbers should match the dongle ip address. if you found your dongle ip address and it reads abc.def.g.h then enter abc.def.g followed by .100 into this box. since mine is 192.168.8.1, i entered 192.168.8.100) subnet mask = 255.255.255.0 default gateway = 192.168.1.1 (the number at the rightmost side should be a 1. if your dongle ip address is abc.def.g.h then enter abc.def.g.1) > check "use the following DNS server address" > preferred DNS server = 8.8.8.8 alternate DNS server = 8.8.4.4 > check "validate settings upon exit" > click ok > DONE. you can check that its working by going to your internet browser > go to last known date dongle was working > click your dongle address link> or you can also remove and reinsert your dongle> DONE .. this workaround is a combination of mariqtasheva's and kalski's workarounds.

    update: i tried leaving prefered DNS server and alternate DNS server blank. it still works. Hope you guys with this issue will have it resolved. = )
